Do you suffer from a dry, itchy scalp, especially during the cold winter months? Ever since I lost my hair during cancer treatment years ago, and then it grew back, I found myself dealing with a more sensitive scalp. My hair grew back thinner, and near the nape of the neck it was like baby fine hair. I found that when I used regular shampoo and conditioner, it would build up and weigh down my hair, and eventually dry my scalp out, causing an uncomfortable itch and flaking. I asked my oncologist for recommendations for skin and hair care items to use post treatment, and he said that many of his patients found relief, especially in the cold New England months, when the heat is cranked up indoors and it is cold out, that natural products that don't have a lot of fragrances or ingredients you don't understand work best. He also mentioned patients seeking out herbalists and naturopaths who make or recommend additional plant and natural based products. After talking with other cancer survivors, I found many saying they like using products for their dry, itchy scalp that contains root extracts and seed oils. These help nourish and sooth our delicate scalps and skin post cancer treatment, and don't leave a greasy residue behind, or weigh down thinning hair.
I have spent the past few years trying out different hair care products, but couldn't find one that worked for my sensitive scalp...that was until I was introduced recently to Bea's Bayou Skincare brand and their line of skincare products. They were kind enough to send also their Moisturize & Soothe Scalp Relief Bundle which includes their shampoo and conditioner, as well as Good Biome scalp solution and prebiotic scalp oil. You can buy the bundle and save $$, or you buy the products individually depending on your needs, or if you want to try the product line out first before investing in the Moisturize & Soothe Scalp Relief Bundle.
So, what is Bea's Bayou Skincare, and what sets it apart from other scalp relief products on the market? First, the name originates from the owner's maternal grandma Beatrice, who lived in Louisiana bayou. Not only did Grandma Bea make the best pies, but she turned to herbs as healers.
"Bea's Bayou Skincare is a scalp care brand inspired by bayou botanicals and uses the power of probiotics to nourish the scalp. We know that many people with all hair types and textures suffer from itchy and irritated scalp, especially in the winter months. Bea's Bayou is a great gift for that Mom who needs to get some more self care in. Or, for Dads who get an itchy scalp or beard after a long run. Bea's Bayou Skincare is also gentle enough to be used on sensitive scalps so it is great for the whole family! "
This way of healing was passed through the generations, and that is how Bea's Bayou Skincare was born. Now, Arielle, the owner, is offering a product line to bring relief to trouble scalps and skin with "lightweight, herbal, fresh-smelling, and fast-soothing products." She also suffers from Seborrheic dermatitis, which both of my teen girls and husband suffer from, and it flares during the cold winter months, so I was happy to see her products helped her bring relief to her dermatitis issues.
Like I said, Arielle, was kind enough to send along some of her products for my family and I to try, and we have been using them for a few weeks now. Her products couldn't have come at a better time, as we now have the heat on in the house, and it has dried out our skin and scalps, even with humidifiers going at night.
But, we have found once we started to use the Bea's Bayou Skincare shampoo and conditioner, paired with the scalp solution and prebiotic scalp oil, our itchy, dry scalps were a thing of the past. We finally had scalp relief, and didn't have to feel self-conscious of how our scalps smelled, which was an issue before with other so-called scalp relief products. They left a strong, pungent smell, usually like tar or like shoe cleaner. It seemed like all the products we would try out had this strong smell, that never went away after showering and shampooing, and would end up leaving our scalps and skin feeling greasy or with an oily film. But, this wasn't the case with the Bea's Bayou Skincare line. Each of the hair care products smelled amazing -- with a nice, fresh herbal scent. And, it felt like instant scalp relief while we rubbed our scalps applying and rinsing out the shampoo and conditioner. We found that we only needed the prebiotic scalp oil (a little goes a long way with this oil) and scalp solution once a week if that, alternating between the two products. These helped provide extra moisture to our scalps.
After having tried out the Good Biome Scalp Renew shampoo and conditioner and scalp oil and scalp solution products and seeing how well they worked within days of first use, and how they continue to produce rapid relief, I will be purchasing their facial skincare cleansers and mists for my girls, as their eczema is usually on their faces and hands, and it is hard to find skincare products that don't irritate their skin further. And, seeing that they had good results with the haircare products, I know the facial cleansers and that will be perfect for their skin and help keep their skin smooth and moisturized, without being irritating.
If you suffer from an itchy, dry scalp during the winter months or year round, and are looking for a product that only works, but smells great and isn't oily or heavy, I highly recommend you check out the Bea's Bayou Skincare line. After years of searching and spending money on skincare products that didn't work, I can finally say our family's search is over, and we have a winner, that is now our go-to scalp relief brand. And, I know once you try Bea's Bayou Skincare products you will be saying the same thing, too!
