Arriving June 25th on DVD for the First Time Ever - Dexter's Laboratory: The Complete Series (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a screener from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone

Recently my youngest daughter stumbled upon a comic book series called Dexter's Laboratory, at our nearby comic book store.  The cover art which was bright and colorful is really what caught her eye.  And, after she started to flip through and read the first few pages, she was quick to grab all the issues in the series that our comic book store had available to buy, and then brought them home to read. It wasn't until she got home that my husband told her he used to watch this exact same series on the Cartoon Network back in college (late 90's).  He would record the episodes when they aired during the week, and then would watch them a couple times over the weekend.  My husband had no idea Dexter's Laboratory was turned into a comic series, let alone children's books, musical albums, and even a movie. Once he found this out, he wanted to introduce our daughter to all things Dexter's Laboratory, all while getting to watch some of his favorite episodes from the Emmy award-winning animated series, which ran for six seasons on the Cartoon Network.  Trying to find the episodes posed a problem, as many of them were lousy dubs or sounding recordings straight from a TV to a video on YouTube. He did find them on Amazon, but you had to buy the individual episodes.  It wasn't until an email came through my inbox about the upcoming Dexter's Laboratory: The Complete Series, that made watching this series a breeze. Finally, for the first time ever, this animated series was now available to watch in its entirety in one place, and without having to go searching for all 78f full-length episodes.

My husband and daughter have been watching a few episodes a night after dinner of this series, and can't get enough of it.  Their goal is to watch all six season (all 78 episodes) before the summer is over, before they watch the movie and try to find the children's books and remaining comics to get their fix.  I love seeing them both get excited about a show like this and spend time not only watching it together, but also talking about the episodes long after they turn the television off. It gives them something to do together, and is a great way to bond over their love of cartoons and animated series like Dexter's Laboratory.

If you watched Dexter's Laboratory back in the late 90's, early 2000's and want to watch some of your favorite episodes, or binge all six seasons like my husband and daughter, then you will want to make a point to pre-order the Dexter's Laboratory: The Complete Series DVD collection, as it releases online and in stores on June 25th.  Then get ready to laugh out loud and smile from ear to ear as you watch, Dexter, the boy genius, create some amazing inventions in his top secret laboratory off his bedroom.  I have even found myself getting hooked on this show and its storylines and stopping to watch a little bit of it when they put the show on after dinner. I can see why it won a lot of Emmy awards. It really is a good show, and one both kids and adults (of all ages) will enjoy watching together.
