Available Today on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital from Lionsgate -- ARTHUR THE KING (Review) #ArthurTheKing
Disclosure: I was provided with a screener from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.
My family has been counting down the days until ARTHUR THE KING arrived to DVD and Blu-ray as we missed it when it was in theaters, and had this movie on our must watch this. We are a dog loving family, so whenever a family-friendly movie like this comes out, we can't wait to see it. And...it doesn't hurt that Mark Wahlberg is in, too! :-) As a fellow Bostonian, I have to root for fellow Bostonians like Mark. :-)
This movie is based on an amazing true story and will have you rooting not only for Michael Light and his team as they complete in the extreme Adventure Racing World Championship in Santa Domingo, but also for this street dog, Arthur. As soon as Arthur comes along in the film, you can't help but have your heart melt, especially if you love dogs like my family does. We rescue dogs, and recently rescued a senior chihuahua that was found in GA in a kennel with 400 other dogs. Looking at Arthur, I couldn't help but wish that Michael would do whatever it takes to makes sure this street dog is safe and cared for. Even though I watched the trailer (see below) and know Arthur came along for the race, I had no idea just how strenuous the race was for humans, let alone a dog that never trained for such a race.
My family really enjoyed this movie, and we were all reaching for tissues throughout the movie, as there are some tug at your heart moments that will have you rooting for Michael and Arthur. Don't worry, I will not spoil what happens. What I will say, though, this is one of the best family-friendly movies we have seen in a while, and we can't wait to watch it again, and are glad we now own it on DVD and Digital, so we can watch it over and over again for years to come.
In addition to this heartwarming movie, this new release to DVD, Blu-ray and Digital also contains some great bonus content that you must check out including audio commentary from the director, producers and author Mikael Lindnord, as well as a handful of featurettes including the making of the movie. So, once you get your hands on this new release from Lionsgate and have watched the film with your family, make sure you make time to check out the special features, as they, too, are not to be missed.
