The Magic Flute, a Fun Take on Mozart's Opera, Makes for a Great Family-Friendly Movie Night (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a review copy from Shout! Studios and Shout! Kids in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

In addition to watching our nightly movie advent holiday movie selection, this past weekend we also watched a new to us new, "The Magic Flute," which released this past May on Blu-ray and DVD from Shout! Factory.  I have shared the official trailer and more about this family-friendly movie below, if you have never heard about it, and want to see what it is about.

My girls had not seen the trailer for this movie, and had no idea what the movie was about. But, just going off the cover art, they thought it was going to silly movie about a flute and kids in a private school. Boy, did they read the cover wrong, and were they in for a real treat!  As the movie started to play, and the story unfolded, I noticed both of my girls intrigued by the story and the characters, and really getting into the movie.  Even my oldest who is not big into music or the opera, was really liking this movie and the parts where the villain, the Queen of the Night, would sing.  I found myself really liking the young man who played the lead in this movie, and really hope this movie boosts his career and he finds his way into more hit movies.  He really did a good job with the role, and carried the story and made you stay engaged from beginning to end.

We really enjoyed this movie, and can't wait to watch it again soon.  Be sure to watch the bonus features which includes the making of this movie, an exciting visual effects presentation, a visit to the premiere of the movie and trailers.  If you are looking for a new movie to share with your family for an upcoming family movie night, I highly recommend you check out "The Magic Flute."  It really was a fun movie that kids and adults will enjoy, and is also a great introduction to Mozart's opera, "The Magic Flute."  Being a homeschooling parent, I can see this movie being a great lesson in Opera and Mozart, and a fun way to tie it all together. :-)
