Fill Their Stockings This Holiday Season with Recent Blockbuster Releases from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (Review)

If you find yourself struggling to find the perfect gift for those hard to shop for people on your holiday shopping list, or need some last minute stocking stuffer ideas, why not consider picking up some of the recent blockbuster movies that released to DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment?  Movies are always a great gift to give as they can be enjoyed time and time again, especially when the cold winter months hit, and we find ourselves indoors more with nothing to do.  It is so easy to pop on a movie and grab a ball of popcorn, to enjoy a relaxing movie night with your sweetie or family.

Even though it was slow going with theatrical releases these past few years due to COVID, we are finally seeing some great blockbuster movies releases first in theaters, and then to home video, just in time for the holidays.  I wanted to take a few minutes today to share a handful of  releases from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment that would make for a great gift idea or stocking stuffer.

Air – Now Available

Synopsis:

My Thoughts:

It is nice seeing Ben Affleck back on his game and directing and acting alongside him pal Matt Damon.  This sports drama is based on real life events surrounding Nike and Air Jordan shoes and how one rookie player changed the face of basketball and the sports shoe industry.  This really was a well done movie and one I found myself really enjoying and wanting to see again, not just because of the star-studded cast, but because I love when movies weave real life events into the storyline and you see how it all plays out on the big screen. I never knew the backstory of Michael Jordan and how it came about that he had his own Nike Air Jordan shoe line, but after seeing this movie it gives me a greater appreciation for what he did not only for the basketball world, but for the retail shoe market. This is definitely one move you don't want to miss in 2023.

Barbie –Available October 17

The highest grossing film of the year, as well as in Warner Bros. history from writer/director Greta Gerwig will be available this holiday season.

Blue Beetle- Available as of October 31

Synopsis:

My Thoughts:

My girls both have wanted to see this movie as they are fans of Cobrai Kai and Xolo Maridueña, and were excited to see him in this lead DC Comic's movie. Even though this movie has gotten mixed review from die-hard DC Comics fans, I have to say that we really enjoyed it. It was toted as a family-friendly movie, and that it was.  It was filled with action, laughs and a great story line, and entertained us all.  If you are looking for a fun family-movie night flick and like action and comic book themed movies and haven't seen Blue Beetle yet, I highly recommend you check it out.

Rebel with a Cause 4K – Now Available

My Thoughts:

Growing up I was a huge fan of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis.  I loved watching all the old movies like East of Eden and Rebel with a Cause.  I can't tell you how many VHS tapes I went through from watching these classics over and over again.  Then, when DVD came out I made a point to replace all my skipping VHS tapes.  During Covid I introduced my girls to James Dean as they had stumbled upon a box I had from my childhood that had my James Dean doll, a few mugs, all my magazine cutouts and homemade posters I made and hung up on my bedroom walls.  They were curious why I was so in love with actors and actresses from the 50's and 60's, when I wasn't even born yet.  But, once they saw James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause, they understood why I was such a huge fan, like so many others.  James Dean was an amazing actor, sadly taken too soon. I oftentimes wonder how many great movies he would have released had he not died in the car accident.  He made a lasting impression on the film industry and his movies are still enjoyed to this day.

So, when I saw Warner Bros. Home Entertainment was releasing this and East of Eden, I had to get my hands on these 4K Ultra HD releases, which contained special features like commentaries, additional scenes without sound, the original theatrical trailer, and so much more.  Fans of James Dean will definitely want these two 4K Ultra HD releases available now from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, to add to their growing collection. I, for one, am happy I can add these to my collection, and have been enjoying the extra bonus features that I have never seen before with previous DVD and Blu-ray releases.
