"The Louisa May Alcott Hidden Gems Collection" Book Series Makes the Perfect Gift for Fans of the Classic "Little Women" Author (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent review copies from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Have you started to count down the days to Christmas?  If not, let me just say that there are only 56 days left until Dec. 25th.  Maybe that will get you in the mindset to start putting together your shopping list of people to buy for.  My girls already gave me their first draft of their wish lists, and I continue to get text and emails from them with new things they stumble upon or see are released and want to get for Christmas. This has prompted me to start holiday shopping a little earlier than usual, as I don't want to deal with crowded stores or finding items selling out before I can snag online or buy in stores.

As I have been together my holiday shopping list, I have been making a point to add to books for friends and family to my list, as I find that everyone loves a new book or even series. And, when it gets cold out, many people, including myself, love to snuggle up under a warm blanket in bed or on the couch, sipping on tea or cocoa, and reading a good book, as we take the beauty of the Christmas tree, holiday lights and snow falling outside.  I got my girls hooked on books at an early age, and they love receiving books for their birthdays and holidays.  Yes, toys are fun, but they get boring fast.  Books are a fun way to let your imagination run wide as you relax and read a few chapters or even a whole book in a sitting.

(Each title can also be individually purchased too!)

This year, I am excited to gift my girls books from the "The Louisa May Alcott Hidden Gem Collection" book series , which can be purchased as a box set or each hard cover title individually from Simon & Schuster.  I was recently sent a handful of the books in this series, and found myself reading each cover to cover in one sitting at a time. I grew up reading Louisa May Alcott, and couldn't wait to pass along my books to my girls to read when they started to read on their own. Both of my girls love Little Women -- the book more than the different movies released.  So, when I saw this new book series of some of her lesser known novels, I just had to check them out for myself.

Here are the books that currently make up the "The Louisa May Alcott Hidden Gems Collection", and more about each title:

"While most famous for Little Women, Louisa May Alcott penned many other just as enthralling but lesser-known novels. Discover five of her hidden gems featuring Alcott’s signature coming-of-age stories in this collectible hardcover boxed set!

In An Old-Fashioned Girl, sweet and sensible Polly spends her summers with her friend Fanny’s family, during which she is thrust into a wealthy and fashionable society that seems a world away from her own simple upbringing. As she grows up, she’ll have to learn to stay true to herself through the pressures of status and reputation, all while navigating love and friendship.

Meet Rose in Eight Cousins and its sequel, Rose in Bloom, as the orphaned thirteen-year-old moves to live with her uncle in the same town as her seven rowdy, male cousins. Blossoming from a timid child into a confident woman, Rose faces finding purpose and love as a young heiress encountering an array of suitors.

Twelve-year-old Ben Brown runs away from the circus with his best dog-friend Sancho in Under the Lilacs to seek out his missing father. While searching, Ben comes into the employ of Miss Celia, who also cares for him and lets him live in her house until he receives word of his father’s whereabouts. Though Ben finds himself happier with this new life, the lack of adventure that came with circus living leaves him unsure whether it’s the life for him.

In Jack and Jill, best friends Jack and Janey—nicknamed Jill—go sledding and make an unexpected turn onto a dangerous path, leading to their fall off a hill. The accident leaves the two seriously injured and bedridden for several months. As the pair recovers, their mothers and friends help them combat boredom through a series of creative activities. Jack and Jill’s friendships grow stronger over the next year, learning life lessons and confronting important social issues of the time."

This classic and charming hardcover boxed set contains:

An Old-Fashioned Girl
Eight Cousins
Rose in Bloom

Under the Lilacs
Jack and Jill

Don't worry, I will not spoil the endings of these books. What I will say, though, is that these hard cover books from the beloved Louisa May Alcott are a must own for fans young and old of the author.  I am planning to pick up another set of these books, so each of my girls have their own set and can add their Little Women books I gifted them from my childhood.

So, with the holidays fast approaching, why not get a jump start on your holiday shopping, and shop for books your family will enjoy, long after the newness of toys wears off.  Everyone loves to grab a new book and read at bedtime or when it is too cold to be outside. And, these books will delight fans of all ages who have fallen in love with the writings of Louisa May Alcott.  You can learn more about these books and other new and upcoming releases from Simon & Schuster by visiting https://www.simonandschuster.com/ today.
