Who knew that one of my favorite toys from my childhood would become a blockbuster hit in theaters in 2023?  After having no big releases in theaters since Covid hit and then things slowly opened back up, it was only a matter of time for a movie release to get everyone back to the theaters...and that is what "Barbie" did.  I don't think anyone could have planned for the huge success of this movie and the hype leading up to it was wild, too.  Men, women and kids of all ages turned up in droves dressed in pink and ready to enjoy.  This film grossed more than $1.43 billion worldwide and easily became the highest grossing film in Warner Bros.' 100-year history, let alone the largest worldwide film release of 2023.

I took my youngest daughter to see this movie opening weekend, and then went again with girlfriends the week after.  Each time I watched this movie I found myself tearing up at parts.  Not only was I reminded of my childhood, but this movie has parts that resonate, with adults, including the Women's Speech from America Ferrera...

"You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line. It's too hard! It's too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you!"

I ended up going back to the theaters a couple weeks later and brought my husband and parents, along with both of my girls. With so much talk about this movie my husband and other daughter were curious to see what they were missing out on.  Both of them enjoyed the movie, and were glad they finally got to see it.

Well, now that so many people worldwide have seen the Barbie movie once (or more than once in theaters), now is the time for the rest of the world who didn't make it out to see it in theaters to watch it at home, thanks to its release on 4K Ultra, Blu-ray and DVD as of October 17th. And, for those who couldn't get enough of this movie in theaters, now you, too, can own it and watch it whenever you want.  We received a screener copy of the movie prior to its October 17th release, and have already watched it 2 times as a family, and my girls have watched it a few more times with their friends.  This is one of those movies you will never grow tired of, and when it starts airing on television you will stop what you are doing to watch it,  no matter what part it is on.

Seeing how big this movie has become, it is no coincidence that holiday wish lists will include not just the movie but also Barbie toys this years. So, why not get a jump start of your shopping and pick up this movie before it sells out, or becomes hard to find once holiday shopping is in full swing. You will be glad that you did!
