Charcuterie platters are all the rave right now. Whenever I browse Facebook I am seeing pop up charcuterie platters wooden board nights and people showing off their fancy cheese plates with cold cut roses. Gone are the days that you pack up a cheese and meat platter to go picnicking. Now people are turning to charcuterie platters for fancy dinners, or even movie nights, as it is much easier to make a plate of tasty meats and cheeses and then sit down to enjoy a good movie or chat with family and friends at a gather.
With charcuterie platters being so popular I wanted to give it a try and tie it in with our weekly Friday night family movie nights. So, when I saw the "Once Upon a Rind in Hollywood" from Ulysses Press, I knew this was the perfect book to help me prep some fun charcuterie platters to serve up for our movie nights, and tie in with some of our favorite movies. The "Brie-King Dawn" platter was the first one I made and was an instant hit. As the name suggests, this is perfect for Twilight fans who are sitting down to watch Breaking Dawn, or any of the Twilight movies. And, if you like Brie cheese, then you will love the assortment of cheeses -- Brie and gorgonzola paired with Fuji, Honeycrisp, Macintosh and other apple varieties, along with homemade Crostini. This platter also let me experiment with the cold cut roses, which I have to say really are easy to make, and look amazing on the plate. I will definitely be making of these platters for future movie nights, and when we have family and friends over to visit. These charcuterie platters are a great way to fill our bellies, but also will get everyone talking about the cheesy puns of these cheesy cinematic pairings.
If you have always wanted to give making a charcuterie platters a try and love movies, I highly recommend you check out the "Once Upon a Rind in Hollywood" from Ulysses Press. There are so many great movies to pair with cheese and charcuterie platters. Our next movie and charcuterie platters (or should I say candy platter) will be for the Clueless movie. I can't wait!
