Kids can't have all the fun with the different Harry Potter themed books on the market. Us adult Hogwarts fan need something, too! Well now the wait is over as I stumbled upon a much have book for adult Harry Potter fans that will delight your taste buds and give you that spellbinding feel you like when enjoying a nice cocktail, margarita, spritzes, etc. "The Unofficial Hogwarts Cocktail Book" put out by Ulysses Press, features over 50 drink recipes, all with a Harry Potter theme. From Butterscotch Beer made with vanilla vodka and butterscotch Schnappes to my personal favorite, the Starry Night in the Tower drink, which includes vodka, ginger beer and butterfly pea flowers, this adult cocktail book is definitely a must have for fans of Harry Potter.
So far I have only made a handful of the drinks, as I have to stock up on more spirits for the different drinks. But, what I have made thus far has been a hit with my husband and I. The drinks are all spell-binding and fun to look at once poured, and have you grabbing your glass for another sip, as you unwind after a long day. After receiving this cookbook and making the first few drinks, it got my husband and I itching to watch the HP movies again. So, we started from the first movie, and are slowly making our way through each, all while enjoying a new drink inspired by the movies from this cocktail book. It gives us something to look forward to watching, and knowing that after a busy day of work, holiday prep and the kids, we get rewarded with a tasty drink -- not a bad way to end the night if you ask me. :-)
And, if the kids end up seeing you enjoying your HP inspired cocktails, don't fret as there is a fun hot chocolate recipe included that doesn't include alcohol.
This is now my girls' go to hot chocolate, and they love to make the peppermint wands to dip in their hot chocolate. With the colder winter temps setting in -- we just got our first snowfall -- this cocktail book would make for a great gift idea for fans of Harry Potter, and the bonus non-alcoholic hot chocolate recipe will be a hit with the kids, too!
