I love this time of year, as so many new great holiday themed books and movies come out for families to enjoy together. If you have followed my blog, then you know each holiday season I like to do both a book and holiday movie advent countdown with my girls. We started this when they were little, and still continue it, even though they are tweens. They look forward to snuggling up on the couch to reach new holiday books and classics, and I love this special quality time together time together, as there are some days they want to be independent and do their own things, and reading with mom is the last thing they want to do.
So, when I was asked to participate in a virtual book tour hosted by the Children's Book Review for "My Butt is SO CHRISTMASSY!", I jumped at the opportunity as I knew my girls would get a kick out of this book, as they love Dawn McMillan and her books. When the book arrived, my youngest was quick to grab it and flip through it. Even without reading the words, she was giggling and smiling, and then running to show her sister, this silly book about a little boy who wants to dress up butt for the holidays, as it isn't festive like everything else around it.
We ended up sitting down to read this book that first night we got it, and as soon as we started to read this picture book and looking at the illustrations done by Ross Kinnaird, we couldn't stop laughing. This was such a funny book! The girls couldn't believe the extent this little boy went to to dress up his backside. As soon as we were done reading the book, we decided to read it again -- this time lingering longer on each page to take in the detailing of the illustrations and giggling a little bit more.
Since receiving "My Butt is SO CHRISTMASSY!" to review, we have read this book a handful of times together at bedtime. My girls have also read it on their own a few times, and even brought it to a recent meetup with friends, to share with them. As soon as their friends saw they book, they were intrigued and then started to giggle uncontrollably as they sat down and read the book together.
This book has become an instant favorite in our house, and will definitely be wrapped up with gift wrap this year and for years to come, as part of our annual holiday book advent countdown. If you are looking for a cute book to share with your kids this holiday season, I highly recommend you check out My Butt is SO CHRISTMASSY!. It will have you and your kids in stitches, laughing uncontrollably this Christmas and for many more years to come.
