Back on August 8, Netflix released a super fun animated musical called Vivo, and has been a hit with families ever since. My family just sat down to watch Vivo the other day, and really enjoyed it. All the songs by Lin-Manual Miranda really helped to bring the movie to life, and had us all singing along. My youngest was quick to ask at the end of the movie if there was a soundtrack out, as she wanted to get it so that she could sing all her favorite songs --- which were all of them from the movie. :-)
Prior to sitting down to watch Vivo with my family, I had shared a selection of recent book releases base don this hit movie with my girls, which were published by Simon & Schuster. We received the following books, which is now available to own and enjoy with your children....

Having not seen the movie before reading these books, the books were a way for the girls to get a feel for the movie musical and what is was all about. They really enjoyed the Vivo movie novelization chapter book, which included a handful of pages with full color spread of illustrations straight from the movie part way through the book. The font writing was big enough that even reluctant readers early chapter book readers will stick with the book and read it. My girls were able to zip through the book, and that is what got them wanting to see the movie. They wanted to see how this movie novelization compared to the movie itself. And, after watching the movie, they said it was spot on.
As far as the ready to read "Vivo" Journey to Miami!," "Vivo: Jam Session" and "VIvo: Encore!," these picture books are perfect for younger readers and those who like to linger on each page to take in all the colorful illustrations. My youngest really liked how the "Vivo: Jam Sesh!" had a drum craft at the end of the book. All you had to do was pop out the drum, grab some tape, and attached the two drum sides together. In minutes, your child will have their very own Vivo drum to tap around on and have a fun jam sesh with the lovable and fun characters from this animated movie musical.
I was also sent a board book, which is perfect for little ones. It gives the story Vivo, told by Vivo himself. It is sturdy enough to throw this book in your bag, and pull out while out and about, to keep your little one entertained. They will love sitting and looking at the colorful illustrations, which really pop off the pages of this board book.
And, once your kids read these Vivo books they will want to stream the movie musical on Netflix. Even if they have already seen it, these books will get them excited to see it again. Right after we were done watching the movie the other night on Netflix, my girls pulled the stack of Vivo books from Simon & Schuster, and sat on the couch to read through them again. And, just this AM, they woke up and watched Vivo again. They can't get enough of this cute musical, with so many catchy songs...you, too, will find yourself singing along to them while your kids watch Vivo time and time again.
