#1 Dublin
Dublin is the capital of Ireland and is a bustling metropolis with many things to see. However, the most popular attraction in Dublin has got to be the Guinness Storehouse, where you can learn all about how this famous beer company started out and enjoy a free pint at the end!
If museums aren't your thing, then why not check out some live music instead? There are lots of smaller pubs alongside streets that often host small gigs from up-and-coming musicians who need an opportunity to showcase their work. Just walk around until you hear someone playing or singing that interests you!
#2 Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher are a very popular tourist attraction and for a good reason. The cliffs stretch along the west coast of Ireland from Doolin to beyond Lahinch, offering spectacular views out over the Atlantic Ocean on one side and into County Clare on the other. In clear weather, you can even see as far as Connemara in Galway! But, of course, there is no better way to enjoy these beautiful sights than by walking around this natural wonder - just be careful if it's windy; those strong gusts have been known to knock people right off their feet!
#3 Galway
A must-see city in Ireland is definitely Galway. Just like Dublin, this city offers something for everyone! Of course, most people visit Galway to enjoy the thriving nightlife scene but if you're more interested in historical sites, then check out The Spanish Arch or St Nicholas' Collegiate Church (which will make you feel like you've been transported back to 15th century Europe). Also, don’t forget to buy yourself one of the many Irish gifts available so you’ll remember your trip for the rest of your life!
Galway also hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including one celebrating traditional Irish music and dance - perfect if that's your sort of thing! Also, if you get a chance, you should definitely check out the Aran Islands, just off Galway's west coast. They are home to some of Ireland's oldest and most famous archaeological sites, so there is plenty for history lovers too!
#4 The rock of Cashel
A lesser-known tourist destination in Ireland is the Rock of Cashel. This ancient site was built over a thousand years ago and was once the seat of power for many Irish Kings, especially Cormac MacCarthy. The rock has been sympathetically restored, so you can imagine what it would have looked like all those years ago while exploring its nooks and crannies. This will be something very few travelers get to see outside of Ireland itself, which makes visiting there even more special! Don't forget to stop off in nearby Cahir while you're here - it's a small town, but it's medieval castle is well worth the visit.
