Can you believe this year mark's the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter movie release? It doesn't feel that long -- well, if you stop and think about it, and how many times you have sat and watched one of the many Harry Potter movies, then maybe it feels like you have been watching them forever. For my family, we can't get enough of the Harry Potter movies. And, with our different streaming services and cable, it seems like every day you can find a Harry Potter movie streaming to watch. On weekends, it seems that a few channels do a movie marathon of them.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter, I have been trying to incorporate some fun wizarding activities into our homeschooling, to keep the girls engaged and having fun. Knowing that both of my girls love to cook, I knew they would go crazy for the new "The Unofficial Hogwarts Cookbook for Kids," which contains 50 magically simple, spellbinding recipes for fans of Harry Potter to cook/bake up and enjoy.
As I mentioned in a recent post, my girls now love collecting cookbooks, and this one has quickly become a favorite of theirs. They read through the whole cookbook the other day when we received it in the mail to review, and agreed that they want to make each and every one of the recipes as part of our homeschooling this year -- yes, all 50 of them! They both love how this cookbooks is filled with not just baked goods, but a whole assortment of recipes including breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes, along with drinks, snacks and appetizers and irresistible desserts, all Harry Potter inspired.
We have only had this cookbook for a few days, but my girls have been busy in the kitchen whipping up charming cherry soda, acid lollipops (see recipe below), chicken fingers (which we had for dinner last night along with the baked sweet potato fries recipe they found in this cookbook, as well as a super easy, yet delicious grilled cheese sandwich the day before, that has everyone asking for more. My girls are really enjoying cooking up recipes in the Harry Potter inspired cookbook, and are well on their way to making all 50 recipes. :-)
If you have a Harry Potter fan in your life (who doesn't?), or you enjoy this popular franchise, then you will want to pick up this newly released cookbook, and whip up some of the dishes and treats, before settling in to watch one or all of the classic Harry Potter films. I, for one, love having dinner and a movie nights, and this cookbooks takes the guesswork out of planning Harry Potter themed treats and meals to serve my family, before we settle in to watch one of our favorite Harry Potter movies for the umpteenth time. :-)

I've always wanted to try so many things mentioned in the books like treacle tart.
ReplyDeleteThey are easy recipes, too, which I was surprised at. We have made a handful more recipes and each one is easy and tasty.
