My girls have been reading up a storm lately, thanks to a shipment from DC that featured some of their new graphic novel box sets and individual novel books for tweens and teens. If you follow my blog, then you have probably seen my past graphic novel posts from DC. Both of my girls are huge superhero fans and love all the graphic novel books DC releases. And, if it wasn't for DC and their graphic novel books, my youngest daughter would not have gotten hooked on reading like she did a few years back. She was a very reluctant reading, but when she picked up a DC graphic novel featuring the DC Super Hero Girls and read it cover to cover in one sitting, she couldn't wait to go to the library and then the book store to pick up more of these types of books to read. And, by the end of the summer she had read over 100 books including tons of DC kids graphic novels as well as chapter books. It was like a light switch was flicked or a flame was lit inside her, and she found her love of reading. Ever since then, she, along with her older sister, love to read a book a day, sometimes two. They read books for book clubs for school, as well as for personal enjoyment. And, whenever a new graphic novel releases from DC and is sent my way to review and feature, they are quick to want to read the book and then talk about together, sharing their favorite characters and parts, while also talking about things they hope to see in future releases in the different DC graphic novels series.
Seeing just how much my girls love DC graphic novels, you can only imagine how excited they were last week when I was sent a box filled with new box sets and individual graphic novels, that all recently released from DC, to review. They both whizzed right through their school work and homework, just so that they could find a comfy spot on the couch, under a warm blanket, and read all these new books. It was like Christmas came early for them, and they loved each and every minute of their reading of these graphic novels. And, when they were all done, they asked if more books would be coming, as they wanted more to read. I told them that this was it for now...so, they reached for the books again, and started to read them all over again. When they were done, they grabbed blank paper and started doodling out their favorite characters and scenes, and even made alternative story lines and endings with their drawings and comic book writing. It was great to see them really embrace these new box sets and individual books from DC, and I couldn't wait to share all about these books with you, so that you could keep them on your radar for that special tween or teen in your life who can't get enough of DC superheros and/or are graphic novel lovers like my girls. They box gave each of the books and box sets we were sent from DC two thumbs up, and said they couldn't choose a favorite, as they were all good and unique. They loved the story lines and found the box sets to be a nice way for kids to start a nice DC graphic novel collection, especially the Teen Titans Go! ones, as they both love watching this animated series on television - even if they are repeats! :-)
Here is more about each of the DC books and box sets we were sent, that have recently released. Each of these would make for a great gift idea for avid and reluctant readers. There is something about all the full color illustrations in these graphic novels that capture a reader's attention and pulls them in, making them want to read more and more, until they have read the entire book in one sitting. You will be amazed at well written each of these graphic novels are, and how they will get your kids' imaginations going while reading the books, and then wanting to sketch their favorite DC characters afterwards.

About this Book:
"Heather Nuhfer and P.C. Morrissey team up in this fun story about game night with the Titans!
The Titans have a regular game of Basements & Basilisks, but when the basement boss (Robin, of course) tries to make the game super fun by making it super-impossible to win, the team rebels. Their new BB is much more fun--and she actually lets them complete their quests, which is excellent motivation to keep playing. But the Boy Wonder begins to worry that the Titans will be trapped in their imaginations forever, going on endless, easy-breezy quests, neglecting their duties in Jump City.
There might also be problems with the campaign's most important relic, the "One Anklet to Crush Them All," which Robin has tightly clasped to his leg."
