When I saw the Tokyo Ghoul Zakki:Re illustrations book on the Viz Media website recently, I knew just the person to help me review it -- my husband! He has been a fan of the serialization and popular franchise by mangaka, Ishida Sui, which run until July 2018. My husband had an original illustrations book that covered the first series, but had no idea that had come out with the Tokyo Ghoul Zakki:Re, which is based on the second series. But, when he saw it arrive in the mail the other, his eyes lit up, and he grabbed it to take a closer look. Just by the look on his face, you would have thought it was Christmas already. :-) To say he enjoyed reading and flipping the pages of the Tokyo Ghoul Zakki:Re is an understatement. I was never big on Tokyo Ghoul, but just hearing him describe it and showing me all the different artwork in the book, made me interested in checking it out further.
When I asked my husband to share his thoughts on this book, he kept bringing up how the illustrations were so life-like and how they were printed on high quality glossy paper. The art in this book is like nothing I have seen before, in that is it bright and colorful, and the realistic illustrations really jump off the page at you.
