Many people have taken up puzzle making during Covid, seeing that we are home more than usual and have all this extra free time on our hands. Instead of sitting in front of the television all day, or looking at our phones, kids and adults have been turning to puzzle making to pass the time, and also to enjoy quality family time together. Have you put together a puzzle lately? We have made over 10 puzzles since this whole Covid thing started back in February.
In addition to puzzle making, my girls have been connecting with their friends outside of Zoom and FaceTime meetups, thanks to good 'ole fashion stationary and pen. They have even made new friends through pen pal programs the local library set up, and have been writing back and forth with kids all over the United States. At first, my girls were not excited to sit down and write...come on, what kid loves to write? My two girls hate doing it when it comes to school, so to ask them outside of school to grab stationary and a pen and write sounds like torture to them. But, after the first letter was written and sent, and they received a response back, they were hooked, and love writing letters and sending drawings to their friends and new pen pals. Not only has their writing and spelling gotten better, but my girls are connecting with kids from all over that they otherwise would not have had the opportunity to, as well as learn more about their good friends, who are sharing more about themselves in their writing and drawings.
My girls each have a shoe box they decorated and keep their pen pal letters and letters from friends in. When they get bored or can't find anything to do, they will pull down their shoe box and read through their letters. This tends to inspire them to write another letter, or find fun coloring pages to send in their letters, for their friends to color and enjoy. And, thanks to the folks at Chronicle Books, my girls have been sharing their love of LEGO by sending super cute and fun LEGO notecards that feature minifigures on them. When you look at the minifigures on the front of the notecard, you can't help but smile. Isn't that the response you want to get with "happy mail"? :-)
In addition to the playful LEGO minifigures on the front of the card, there is also a cute saying to go along with the scene. The inside of the card is blank so that you can fill it with your thoughts and then send off to family and friends. When my girls saw these notecards arrive in the mail, they were quick to call dibs on them, and knew which friends to send them to. Many of their friends love LEGO building like my girls, and were so happy to receive these notecards in the mail.
They didn't even know they existed, but now what these LEGO minifigure notecards for themselves, as well as the other LEGO stationary and puzzles available from Chronicle Books. I can't blame them, as I am also geeking out over all these cool LEGO inspired stuff, which is selling like hot cakes over at the Chronicle Books website.
"The first official LEGO puzzle on the market—LEGO Paint Party—
sold out before it went on sale in May."
