Many of my girls' friends are sharing that their elves have returned a little early this year, to help kids get through the quarantine Christmas.  With the return of the elf also comes a child's increased anticipation for Santa's arrival and wonderment that is Christmas morning, with gifts under the tree. Kids, if they haven't already, will start asking parents how many more days until Christmas, or grow restless at bedtime as they inch closer and closer to Dec. 25th.  

My youngest daughter started counting down to Christmas after she celebrated her birthday the beginning of this month. As part of her annual week long birthday celebration, we put the Christmas tree up.  As soon as the tree was up and the lights turned on, it was like a switch went on in my girls, and they were all about the holidays and wishing that Dec. 25th would get here already. 

Even though my girls have to wait, they have been enjoying a fun new picture book from bestselling author and popular late night host, Jimmy Fallon, called "5 More Sleeps 'Til Christmas." Even though my girls are reading chapter books on their own, whenever the holidays roll around, I love getting the opportunity to share some of our favorite holiday picture books we wrap for our book advent, as we snuggle up on the couch and enjoy a good book together.  

When I received this book the other day in the mail, I knew it would be a book my girls would want me to wrap and add to the stack of books for our holiday book advent.  I just had to read it to them, and when I did, I couldn't help but smile, as the little boy in the book was just like my girls -- excited and eagerly awaiting Santa's visit.  This book, like other Jimmy Fallon picture books, is funny and full of playful illustrations that draw the reader in and make the feel like they are part of the story.  Both of my girls loved this holiday picture book, and were quick to say, "wrap it!" when I asked if we should include with our book advent.  I can't wait to unwrap this book and read it again with my girls, as Christmas and Santa's arrival draws near.  This book will definitely be a staple at Christmas this year and for many more to come.
