With so many families choosing to homeschool or have their children remote learn this school year, I wanted to make sure I added some great reference type books that you can pick up and share with your kids, as you both go through this unique experience of homeschooling or virtual learning. I keep hearing from so many friends who chose to keep their kids out of the schools while the pandemic is going, how much their kids are loving learning at their pace and exploring deeper into a subject or topic. This is one reason my girls love to homeschool, as they are like sponges and want to absorb as much content/material as they can on topics that interest them. For my youngest, she is all about history and learning about historical figures and events. She is also big into drawing and arts and craft, and using her creative side to make some amazing art pieces and dioramas to go with things we are learning about in school. While on the other hand, my oldest is not a big fan of history, but loves English and reading, as well as computer programming. Even though my girls have their own favorite subjects in school, they both are hands on learners, and love when I share colorful books and learning resources to help them better understand new topic/subjects we are discussing. This year for school, we are studying more in depth all about the 50 states in the United States, as well as countries all around the world. So, when I saw the new "50 Maps of the World" by Wide Eyed Editions, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy of the book to share with my girls and use with our schooling.
Thanks to the kind folks at Wide Eyed Editions, we were sent a hard copy of this book a couple of weeks ago, and when it arrived, I was amazed at just how big a hard copy book it was. It was 11 in wdth/13.4 in. length. And, just as the name of the book suggests, this map books contains 50 full color country maps, along with some very interesting and fun facts about each, including history, culture, and personalities of places. I really like how the book is set up and how each country map is presented. There is a nice key facts panel, history timeline that are a great way to introduce kids to a particular country like Brazil or the Netherlands. And, if that wasn't enough, kids will learn all about famous personalities, iconic places, animals and experiences of each country. My youngest kept saying that this maps book was chock full of information, and she loved how all the information was in box sections or grouped together, so that you could slowly read through each section and take it all in, while maybe stopping to pose a question or talk more about an interesting fact they just read about.
My girls really enjoyed the "50 Maps of the World" book, and will definitely be getting a lot of use out of it this year in our homeschooling, as well as for years to come. They give it two thumbs up, and I have to agree to them! I would highly recommend this book to parents who homeschool, and those who have their kids home full or part time this school year, as the books is a great reference tool for studying different countries around the world, in fun way.
