Knowing just how upset my girls were over Halloween being cancelled, I wanted to plan a fun at-home Halloween party for them, complete with a fun spooky themed dinner and snacks, Halloween movie double feature, and some other fun activities, that hopefully would make my girls' Halloween enjoyable, even if it meant we had to stay in. First and foremost, I sat down with the girls and let them choose their favorite candy and chocolates and ordered bags of them from Amazon to be delivered. Then, I talked to them about my ideas and took suggestions from them. My girls are total opposites -- my youngest is a girly girl and loves to play with her AG dolls and doing pampering things, while my oldest is content doing solo activities, playing on her phone video games or just reading a good book. I wanted to be sure that included activities that they would both enjoy and that would keep them both engaged on Halloween night, without having their minds wander and getting them thinking about yet another holiday cancelled.
As I was planning things to do with my girls, I received an email asking if I wanted to review some nail polish. I liked the idea of adding pampering to the mix of activities planned, and went to check out the Dr. REMEDY Enriched Nail Care website to see what set this nail care line apart from all the other nail care and polish products on the market. And, boy, was I impressed with what I found out about Dr.'s REMEDY Enriched Nail Care.
Here is a little information about Dr.'s REMEDY Enriched Nail Care, in case, like me, you had never heard about them and their nail care products....
"Dr.’s REMEDY is a line of doctor-inspired nail care dedicated to using clean, hypo-allergenic ingredients. The brainchild of two New York-based podiatrists, Dr. Adam Cirlincione and Dr. William Spielfogel, Dr.’s REMEDY Enriched Nail Polish is the first-ever nail polish on the market created by doctors and approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association. Made with organic ingredients, vitamins, wheat protein, tea tree oil, lavender, and garlic bulb extract, Dr.’s REMEDY 100% Paraben free, vegan nail polish is the #1 podiatrist recommended brand."
And, these were the fun spook-tacular nail polish shades I was sent to review, with the help of my girls...
---
I usually shy away from nail polish and beauty type products that I don't know what is in them, as I have sensitive skin, and usually breakout, or have a reaction to products I am not used to using. My girls are the same way. We have even found some nail polishes, which are supposed to be safe and non-toxic to bother our eyes when applying to our nails, or even making our nails split or thinned out. So, I am usually a little reluctant to try a new nail polish. But, after reading all about Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Care and reading all the rave reviews about them from customers, I reached out to see about trying out six new Halloween-themed shades that were recently added to the Dr.'s REMEDY Enriched Nail Care line. They quickly expressed the nail polish to me, and I surprised my girls with it. I told them my idea of letting them face paint my husband and I, and then give each other face paint tattoos, before settling in to have a warm cup of tea and a little spa evening before our movie night. I said I was buying cucumbers for our eyes, and had this super cool new nail polish for us to do each other's nails with. Even my husband said he would be up for having my girls paint his nails, so he could be cool and stylish like us. :-) Both of my girls liked the spa night idea, and really loved the different spook-tacular nail polish shades from Dr.'s REMEDY Enriched Nail Care.
As my planning for our at-home Halloween family party went on, I found my girls gravitating towards the box I was preparing and storing supplies in. They kept reaching for the different Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish nail polishes hoping that I would catch them looking at them, and say it was OK to try them out. Heck, after seeing them for the first time, as I was taking them out of the box that we were sent, I, too, secretly wanted to try them out, or at least paint a couple nails to see how the different shaded looked in the light. I knew I couldn't make my girls wait until Halloween to try out these nail polishes, and I wanted to add a little color to my nails which hadn't seen color since we started quarantining back in February, I surprised my girls the other evening after dinner with a trial run of our spa day. :-)
I had chamomile tea in a pot and tea cups set up on the coffee table in the living room, warm towels to wrap around our necks, cucumbers for our tired eyes, and all six Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish nail polishes lined up and ready to go. I wish you could have seen my girls' faces when they caught glimpses of the nail polish. They were so excited and couldn't wait to sit down and enjoy a little pampering after a long day of online classes. It was a great way to unwind and have a little girl time together. My husband was going to join, but saw just how much fun we were having with our girl talk, with Taylor Swift videos playing in the background on the television, and my youngest filling us in on celebrity gossip she read online, all about new movies and shows on or coming, and about things they have been doing in their classes or fun things their friends have been doing to keep busy while at home. It really was a fun evening, and one we all needed, to recharge our batteries, and remind us that "this too shall pass" and that while COVID may have cancelled Halloween, it was not going to stay around forever. And, as long as we have each other and quality time like we were having, it would make these days spent together at home more enjoyable and memorable.
Because I got go engrossed in our girls' night spa night, I didn't take photos of us painting our nails. But, I was able to get my youngest daughter to show off her nails after we were all done with our spa night.
As you can see in the photo below, she opted to have each nailed painted a different color. Her toes looked the same! :-) She said it was so hard to choose just one nail polish shade from the new spook-tacular collection from Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Care, that it was just best and easier to use them all! :-) And, you know what?...I couldn't agree with her more. I ended up letting my girls each do a hand when it came time to painting my nails. My youngest tried her hand at a french manicure, using the classic cloud white as a base, and then adding a burst of color at the top like you would do with a french manicure. Like her nails, she decided to paint each nail a different shade...and, I have to say, I like her style! My oldest daughter, on the other hand, opted to go with the tumeric nail polish shade. She said it reminded her of a bright sunny day, and that you usually don't see yellow nails, so I would be bound to stand out in a crowd. :-)
I am so grateful to the folks at Dr.'s Remedy Enriched Nail Care for turning our cancelled Halloween 2020 into a more memorable one at home. My girls are really looking forward to Halloween coming up, so that we can paint our nails again and try out the different spook-tacular shades on our fingernails and toenails. And, the trial run the other day was an unexpected treat for us girls, and one I really enjoyed. I loved seeing the girls smile and really get into our spa night. Not once did they talk about COVID or cancelled plans, or reach for their phones.
