Are you ready for this?...There are only 70 days until Christmas. Ugh, I know..it seems like time is flying by this year. It always feels this way once kids go back to school and fall is upon us. Summer ends, and then everything seems to whiz right by. I just went to the hardware store the other day and they had an aisle of Halloween decorations and right next to it was a few aisles of Christmas stuff. If only, we could slow things down and enjoy each of the holidays. But, that can't be done, so why not enjoy the next 70 days and take in all things Christmas. :-) With that being said, I wanted to share a fun new Tom and Jerry Special Edition movie that is releasing to Blu-ray and DVD on October 27th from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. I was recently sent a screener of this movie and watched it yesterday with my girls. As soon as the movie started to play, my girls turned to me and asked if we could but up the Christmas tree. They are ready for Christmas and the holiday season, and said it would go well with all the holiday movies we will be watching now for my blog. While I love sitting and seeing the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree, I can't see myself putting it up until at least November 1st. :-) Usually we put it up early at my youngest daughter's request for her early November birthday. Last year she had a Buddy the Elf themed birthday, so the tree in the background was perfect with her decorations. And, now, for this year, she is asking for a Tom & Jerry birthday, and wants to screen this cute holiday movie with her friends.
In addition to the full length movie, this upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release will also include two bonus episodes -- 1) Tom and Jerry: The Night Before Christmas and 2) Tom and Jerry: Santa's Little Helpers. We watched these two bonus episodes after sitting for the main feature, which has a run time of 70 minutes. My girls loved these bonus Christmas-themed cartoons, and said they were a great addition to this special feature release. Both of my girls love the Nutcracker plays at the holidays and listening to the music, and really got into this holiday Tom and Jerry movie. And, come on, who doesn't love Tom and Jerry? I grew up loving Tom and Jerry, and love how my girls love some of my favorite childhood cartoons and characters, as it allows me to watch all these movies and shows with them, and relive my childhood. I love seeing them get excited about these cartoons and movies, and have to say that by watching this movie, I am getting excited, like my girls are, for the Christmas season.

Produced by Spike Brandt (Duck Dodgers) and Tony Cervone (Space Jam), Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale Special Edition tells the story of Jerry Mouse, who is a devoted fan of “The Nutcracker” and is magically transported into his own version of the classical ballet one Christmas Eve. The film is inspired by classic Tom and Jerry cartoon shorts that were originally created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. It is a heartwarming, and hilarious take on the world-famous holiday ballet about a little girl who goes to the Land of Sweets on Christmas Eve with her favorite gift, a toy nutcracker, which ultimately transforms into a handsome prince.
After watching the season’s final performance of “The Nutcracker” ballet on Christmas Eve, Jerry dreams of dancing with the beautiful prima ballerina, who captivates him with her graceful performance. After the theater patrons leave, Jerry climbs onto the stage and begins to dance on his own, as Tuffy Mouse cheers him on. Through the magic of Christmas Eve, Jerry is suddenly transformed into one of the dancers. Costumed to look like regal prince, he takes center stage, which turns into a winter wonderland, as all the toy props around him come to life, and music from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” begins to play. A petite music box ballerina springs to life and joins Jerry as the two of them dance their way into the Nutcracker’s magical realm. It seems as though Jerry’s “The Nutcracker” fantasy has finally become a reality. That’s until Tom and his band of alley cats enter through the theater’s stage door, capture all the toys and lock the beautiful ballerina in a cage.
“For many, The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition and this entertaining film captures the essence of that classic story with its own unique adaptation,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Senior Vice President, Originals, Animation and Family Marketing. She added, “Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale Special Edition is a timeless story and it is the perfect holiday movie that kids and adults can watch together. Now fans can enjoy this fun film in gorgeous high definition. This release is a must-have holiday title for your home entertainment collection.”
