Finding What Makes Your Family, Your Family!

It can often be a fun thought exercise to consider just how unique and lovely your family is. This can help you understand that while no two families are exactly alike, many of us encounter similar ups and downs and despite all of that, we wouldn’t change them for the world.

People can often feel insecure about their families, particularly parents raising children. ‘Is my family loving enough?’ or ‘do we communicate with one another well?’ can make you fall into the ‘grass-is-greener’ perspective that regularly throws people through a loop. We recommend you don’t fall into that worrying exercise, because it can make you feel lesser, when in fact, you may be doing just fine.

Finding out what makes your family, your family, can help you understand just what you most appreciate about it. From there, you can cherish the things you may have taken for granted, or the little idiosyncrasies that you, and we all, live for. After all, reflecting on our family life and how lucky we are to live it is healthy for our mind, body, and soul:

The Home You Develop

The home you develop is a great indicator of your family’s tastes, and what they prize most dear. This goes for your home decoration and also the renovations you attend to over the year, guided by the best architects, as this allows for you to get the most out of your space while retrofitting it to your needs. Give two identical homes to two families, and in five years their interiors will look radically different. You can tell alot about a person by their houses, and a family more so.

The Language You Speak

The language you speak with your family can also help you notice the little quirks you’re encouraging and have created. By language we don’t mean mother tongue or new learned spoken language, rather the little comments, fun little in-jokes, words that refer to certain things, and even funny little asides that contribute to the way you communicate as a family. If you sing a song to your dog with your children laughing along - that’s the best kind of language. In fact, studies show this is a sign of a very close and loving family, so don’t be ashamed of  this, no matter how silly it can get.

The Gratitude You Share

The gratitude you share with your family can bring everyone together, and it can help you get over the tumultuous elements of living in such close proximity. This means that if you can make it a default habit and requirement to support one another, even if that’s heading to your sports games or supporting one another through remote work and remote schooling during Covid, you’re in a great position. This is how a house becomes a home, and how the atmosphere thrives.

With this advice, we hope you can more easily find that which makes your family, your family!
