"In this original story, author Minh Lê pulls from his own family history to introduce readers ages 8-12 to DC’s newest Green Lantern, Tai Pham. Lê’s tale is brought to life in vibrant illustrations by Andie Tong."

Both of my girls are all about the middle grade graphic novels that DC Comics has been turning out.  So, when I told them a couple months ago about the upcoming "Green Lantern: Legacy," which arrived on store shelves on January 21st of this year, they couldn't wait to get their hands on a copy of the book to read.  Well, the other day, I surprised them with an advanced copy of this highly anticipated graphic novel, and within 30 minutes, both of my girls had the book read cover to cover.  When they were done, they grabbed printer paper and sat at the table talking about their favorite parts of the story, while drawing some of their favorite scenes and characters.  I love seeing my girls get so excited about a book and want to continue the fun of the story long after they are done reading it.

Since my girls first read "Green Lantern: Legacy," they have gone back and read it a handful of times more. And, when they weren't reading or talking about the book, they were making their own graphic novels continuing the story.  While they that this particular graphic novel becomes a series, they have been having fun coming up with new story lines, which are real page turners. :-)

If your child is into graphic novels or loves DC Comics, then I highly recommend you picking up this new release.  It is a quick read, full of stunning illustrations that really help bring the story to life, and will have your child seeing Green Lantern in a new light, as the past and present come together in a wonderfully written graphic novel made especially for middle grade readers.  You can learn more about the new "Green Lantern: Legacy" middle grade graphic novel by visiting https://www.dccomics.com/graphic-novels/green-lantern-legacy.

More about this new middle grade graphic novel:

"Thirteen-year-old Tai Pham lives in the apartment above his grandmother’s store, where his bedroom is crammed with sketchpads and comic books. But not even his most imaginative drawings could compare to the colorful adventure he’s about to embark on.

When Tai inherits his grandmother’s jade ring, he soon finds out it’s more than it appears. Suddenly he’s being inducted into a group of space cops known as the Green Lanterns, his neighborhood is being overrun by some racist bullies, and every time he puts pen to paper, he’s forced to confront that he might not be creative enough or strong enough to uphold his ba’s legacy.

Now Tai must decide what kind of hero he wants to be: will he learn to soar above his insecurities or will the past keep him grounded?"
