Her name's Moxie. Moxie McCoy.
Bold, opinionated, and haplessly self-confident, the world's greatest fourth-grade detective faces her biggest challenge! When someone kidnaps beloved school mascot Eddie the Owl, Moxie is on the case--but she's forced to fly solo now that her best friend (and crime-solving partner) has moved away.
Moxie must interview her classmates--both as potential new best friends and as possible suspects. She finds clues and points fingers but can't save the owl on her own. Enter Moxie's little brother, Milton. Quiet, cautious, and boring as a butter knife, he's a good listener.
Can the Real McCoys form an unlikely alliance and solve the crime of the century?

My Thoughts:
As part of the Rockstar Book Tours blog tour, I was sent all three of the above mentioned books for my girls and I to enjoy. My youngest has turned into a big reader since the summer, when she got into graphic novels as she liked all the pictures and comic book feel. She thought that with all the pictures there were less words...but in actuality most of the books she was reading were over 150 pages and had a lot of words, if you counted them. Once she read all the graphic novels she could get her hands on, she turned to other books that included illustrations that took up pages of the books - again thinking there was less reading to be done. One book that caught her eye was The Real McCoy's.
At first, she liked this book, which was the first in a series, because it was full of black and white illustrations. But, as she started to read the book she found herself loving the story line and it felt like the main character, Moxie, was speaking directly to her. She found herself not being able to put the book down. And, when she was done reading it, she wanted me to grab the other two books in the series from the library for her to read.
So, when I was asked to participate in The Real McCoy's book tour through Rockstar Book Tours, I jumped at the opportunity as they would sent out all three The Real McCoy's books for my girls to read and enjoy. We had borrowed the first book in the series from the library, and my daughter has been waiting to read the other two. So, I knew she would be excited to have her own The Real McCoy's collection. Within 2 days of receiving the three books, both of my girls had read the three books cover to cover. I loved hearing them talk with one another about their favorite parts, and why they loved these books. They are both hoping that more books will be released to add to their new The Real McCoy's collection.
If you are looking for a fun chapter book series for your kids, you should check out The Real McCoy's series. Even the most reluctant of readers will love how these books are set with full black and white illustrations throughout the pages of this book.

swashbuckling. He managed to secure a BA from Williams but was summarily
rejected from every MFA program to which he applied—thus emboldening Robbi to
remind him almost daily that he is a master of nothing.
