OMG!, I have been spoiling myself each night with my nightly hot chocolate. How you ask? Well, thanks to the folks at 12 Oaks Desserts in California, I was recently sent a sample box of their Cake Gems to try out, and I have been in heaven each and every night when I slide the cover off the box to pick a little cake gem to enjoy with my nightly chocolate fix.
Before I go on about why I love these delectable treats, which are almost too pretty to eat, let me share a little about 12 Oaks Desserts, and why they should be on your radar this holiday season if you are a foodie or like to send food gifts in the mail....
About 12 Oaks Desserts:
"12 Oaks Desserts has its roots not just in friendship, but also in family. Baking has always been a way for us to connect with our families and inspires the love we put into our confections every day. Many of our recipes are family heirlooms that have been passed down on faded, hand-written index cards, splattered with vanilla extract and cocoa powder of years gone by.
The philosophy that drives 12 Oaks Desserts is that a great dessert makes life a bit sweeter. The seed was planted many years ago in a tiny Manhattan apartment by two best friends with a passion for desserts. The evolution of the 12 Oaks dream has been exciting over the past several years. From the streets of Manhattan to sunny California, 12 Oaks Desserts has grown on both Coasts.
Now based in Los Angeles, 12 Oaks Desserts bring time-honored baking traditions to modern treats. The result? Cakes you’ll crave, cheesecakes you’ll covet, and cake pops that make your busy life just a little more delicious. From holiday parties and birthdays to wedding showers and corporate events, exquisite desserts – from scratch with love – are no pie in the sky. In fact, they’re just a click away."

What is truly amazing about 12 Oaks Desserts is that the two bakers behind the company don't come from a culinary background. Katherine has a BS in graphic design and MA in Art Business, while Missy (AKA the Head Tester) has a BS in psychology from Columbia. You would think with their educational backgrounds and their previous jobs in finance and at a startup company that they would wind up running such a successful company like 12 Oaks Desserts. But, it seems that all the best companies or business ideas come when people choose to follow their passions -- and, in this case Katherine left her job in 2016 and hasn't looked back. She loves what she does, which includes making cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops; and Missy uses her marketing savvy to create blog content and successful marketing campaigns, that have put 12 Oaks Desserts on the map, and a go-to for those lucky to live in sunny California, who can order and pick up all the tasty made from scratch with love desserts. But, don't fret, if you don't live in CA, you can still experience 12 Oaks Desserts, as they offer an online shop where they can ship direct to your door many of their amazing cakes, cake pops and cake gems.
Like I mentioned above, I have been enjoying the 12-count of cake gems, Katherine was nice enough to send my way recently. She even took time out of her busy schedule of baking to send along a handwritten note, which was nice to find along with the oh so beautiful, but even more tastier cake gems, for my family and I to enjoy. Yes, you read that right, I have to share with my family these little crave worthy cake gems -- even though I wish I could keep them all for myself. But, it is better to share, especially when you have stumbled upon such an amazing product like these cake gems, as you want to shout it from the rooftops, I LOVE 12 Oaks Desserts Cake Gems! :-)
"12 Oaks Cake Gems are made with only the finest ingredients, from free-range eggs and top shelf chocolate, to their hand-crafted vanilla extract. Cake Gems are sold by the dozen for $24 a box and come in 10 scrumptious flavors!"
I have been trying my best to have just one cake gem a night. But, tonight, I couldn't help myself and had to go back for a second one. If you tried these mini morsels of cake goodness you would find yourself fighting to stop at just one. They really are melt in your mouth good, and will leave you with a big smile on your face when you are done licking your lips.
With the holidays fast approaching, I wanted to make sure you knew about 12 Oaks Desserts, if you have a foodie on your holiday shopping list, and like to surprise them by sending unexpected treats and goodies for them to experience and enjoy for the first time. Or, if you are foodie and have a sweet tooth like me, then you will want to ask Santa to bring your some cake gems from 12 Oaks Desserts to enjoy. Once you bite into these little cake gems, you will see why I LOVE them, and can't wait for tomorrow night to come, so I can have another. I am already wondering what I will do when the box is empty. Thankfully, I just have to go online and place another order. It is that easy! No need to travel to California to get my 12 Oaks Desserts fix. And, you know what? I am also thinking to order cake pops or maybe even the sprinkles cake to put out on the dessert table for Christmas.
While I love to bake and get in the kitchen like the bakers from 12 Oaks Desserts, it is nice to try something new and find a new must have treat that you can crave and ask for when holidays and birthdays roll around, and people ask what you would love to get. I don't have to think twice on this one, as I will be asking for 12 Oaks Desserts. :-)
So, with December 1st fast approaching and the craziness of the holiday season kicking off soon, why not head on over to 12 Oaks Desserts to browse their online shop to see which made from scratch desserts you can have shipped to your doorstep, or to someone on your shopping list, that would love getting a surprise treat in the mail for the holidays.
I can't wait for your experience 12 Oaks Desserts, and hear which cake gem flavor is your favorite. Mine is the funfetti cake, followed up in a close second by chocolate chip.
Yum! My mouth is watering just thinking about these cake gems, which are only $24 for a box of 12 scrumptious gems.
