The first television series my girls watched and fell in love with Curious George, on PBS Kids. And, after watching George and the man in the big yellow hat, they were hooked, and wanted to watch anything and everything Curious George. Our favorite DVDs were the holiday ones, and we would watch them year round. Even though my girls are older, they still will sit and watch Curious George movies, especially ones they have never seen before, like the recently released Curious George: Royal Monkey DVD which arrived in stores this past Tuesday, Sept. 10th.
Thanks to the kind folks at Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, they surprised my girls with a screener of the movie to watch. As soon as my girls saw the DVD, their eyes lit up and they both smiled. We ended up watching the movie after our homeschooling the other day, and I have to say, it's been awhile since we sat and watched a Curious George movie, and I loved it. It felt like old times when my girls were little and we would snuggle up with a warm blanket on the couch watching George, the mischievous monkey.
This movie has George swapping places with a royal monkey. And, if you have seen Curious George episodes or movies, then you know you are in for a fun-filled adventure, with humor mixed in. And, this new royal movie didn't disappoint. Both of my girls loved the movie, and were eager to watch it again, as soon as the credits started rolling. The four new songs included in the movie were also catchy and fun to sing and dance along to. And, for a limited time, the DVD comes with a fun sticker sheet that Curious George fans of all ages will love. You can collect the stickers and save in your sticker book, or make playful comic book style scenes or drawing with sticker embellishments, like my daughters did.
Fans of Curious George will definitely want to add the new Curious George: Royal Monkey to their growing Curious George DVD collection. It also makes for a great family movie night, too, if you are looking for something to pick on DVD or order a digital copy and watch this weekend with your family. Once you sit and watch Curious George: Royal Monkey you will see why my girls and I loved it, and give it two thumbs up. We plan to watch it again tomorrow after our schooling. I even printed out some fun Curious George coloring and activities sheets I found online to go along with our Curious George movie afternoon. :-)
