Ella, with her dogDally, reaches out to create a bond with Addy and Spanky, the miniature horse she’s just inherited from her father. Their act quickly goes viral and wins their high school talent show, bringing the girls closer! Unfortunately, the family realizes that the cost to keep Spanky is too high and they’ll have to send him away. But Addy gets an idea and submits their routine to a popular TV talent show. As you can see from the official trailer above, this movie stars Trace Adkins and Denise Richards. I have been a fan of Trace Adkins, both his country music and the movies he has been in. It has been awhile since I saw him in a movie, so it was nice to see him pop up in this heartwarming film, which will definitely pull at your heartstrings. Be sure you have tissues handy as you will be crying throughout the film, mostly happy tears...but, there are some sad parts, including one Trace Adkins' character dies.
My girls and I really enjoyed this movie, and loved seeing the unlikely friendship between the dog and miniature horse. We have a small dog about the size of Dally, and my girls wondered if she would be friends with a horse. I don't think so, as she is scared of animals bigger than her. But, that didn't stop my girls from trying to do some of the tricks they saw in the film with our dog, Milly, after the movie was over. My youngest pretended to be Spanky the horse, and got on all fours. After trying for about a half hours, the girls realized that our dog is not like Dally, and that Dally is a unique pup, which made this movie that much more special.
Don't worry, I am not going to tell you how the movie ends. You will have to pick up this DVD when it arrives in stores on Sept.10th. What I will say, though, is that this movie makes for a great family movie night film, to watch with your whole family. Kids and adults will walk away happy to have seen this movie and having been introduced to Dally and Spanky and their unique friendship. We can't wait to watch this movie again. And, I know that once you see it, you'll want to watch it over and over again, too!
