Toy Story 4 was definitely one of the top movies for families this summer. After waiting what seemed like forever for the new release, we ended up seeing Toy Story 4 three times this summer. One viewing was at a drive-in, a new experience for my girls, who loved laying out under the stars, watching this hit movie. Now, my girls are eagerly awaiting the release of this movie to DVD and Blu-ray so that they can watch again, and add to their Toy Story movie collection.
While the girls wait for Toy Story 4 to release to DVD and Blu-ray, they are having fun crafting and drawing their favorite characters, including some new ones from this summer blockbuster. I have lost count of how many Forky craft spoons my girls have made, but I know they have made a lot as I see them all over the house. In addition to crafting Forky, they have been honing their drawing skills with the help of a Learn to Draw Toy Story book from Walter Foster Jr. and Quarto Knows.
Featuring all your favorite characters, including Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and more!

The easy-to-follow instructions in this book will guide you through the drawing process; each step builds upon the last until the Toy Story character is finally complete. You just need to grab a pencil, a piece of paper, and your copy of Learn to Draw Disney•Pixar Toy Story; then flip to the character you want to draw. You’ll draw the basic shapes shown in step one, and move on to step two, step three, and keep going! The new lines in each step are shown in blue, so you’ll know exactly what to draw. After adding all the details in each step, darken the lines you want to keep and erase the rest. Finally, add color to your drawing with felt-tip markers, colored pencils, watercolors, or acrylic paints.

You don't have a be a skilled drawing to enjoy this book. My girls love to draw and doodle, but have struggled in the past with other "Learn to Draw" books as they were set up with the understanding that the reader had a background in drawing. But, this book is not like that, which I love. It walks kids and adults through the whole drawing process. The step by step instruction will not overwhelm or discourage kids. My girls have been enjoying this book, and get excited when they see the final product and realize that they, too, can draw their favorite Toy Story 4 characters, just like an animator would. My fridge is now covered with drawings of Forky, Hamm, Slinky and others. Even though my girls have tried their hand at all the characters, they still love grabbing this book and drawing them characters again and again.
If you have a Toy Story fan in your life and they like to draw, or would love to learn how to draw some of their favorite characters from the new Toy Story 4 movie, or the previous three installments, then you will want to pick this "Learn to Draw" Toy Story book from Walter Foster Jr. and Quarto Knows. I can't believe that it only costs $14.11 (from Amazon) for all the above mentioned character instruction. It is a steal if you ask me! I know you don't to start thinking about the holidays, but this book would make a great gift idea for kids and adults who love Toy Story...come on, who doesn't love this movie? :-)
