This is the first time my girls are truly experiencing a summer vacation and taking a couple months off of school. Usually we homeschool year-round, and then take a few weeks off in December and then again in the spring. But, they have been asking to have a summer like their friends, and it will give them and I time to unwind after a busy school year. They get to read all the books they want for summer reading, and I can finally pick up a book again and actually have time to read it cover to cover, without having to rush off for a homeschool class or activity, or have something else going on, that leaves me going a mile a minute, right up until bedtime.

We used to have an above ground pool, but early on we found out that my youngest is allergic to chlorine and pool chemicals, so we ended up taking it down, as it would have been more expensive to convert to salt water.
The girls have been having a blast playing in the pool, and sunbathing, and I have enjoyed lounging by their kiddie pool, with a glass of lemonade and a good book. If that isn't the life, I don't know what is?! :-)
In addition to enjoying this summer day, we have been getting in a lot of day trips, which has me whipping out the camera to snap up photos to preserve these wonderful summer memories. I am reminded as I look at the photos I have taken, that the girls are no longer little, and are growing up fast. My oldest will be turning 9 in a few weeks, and my other daughter will be 8 in the fall. Where did the time go?
