Show runs Now through July 21st!
The other night we got to take in the opening night show of LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil, which kicked off its run in Hartford, CT on June 19th, and runs through July 21st.
Usually you are not allowed to take video or photos during a show, especially one like this. The only thing they said before the show began is that you can't use a flash as it would interfere with the acts. But, they welcomed photos and videos so that you could capture your favorite moments and share them with family and friends. I found myself pulling out my phone to snap photos and quick videos as I wanted to share them as part of my write up, as words alone would not do justice for what my eyes were seeing.
My husband is of Latin decent and could understand all the music, and said he loved how it told the story of LUZIA, which was to show a walking dream, that combines light (luz) and rain (lluvia) to soothe the soul. The breathtaking acrobatic performances paired with the exquisite visual surprises made the 2 hr. and 5 minute (including the 20 minute intermission) go by fast. I didn't want the show to end, and when it did and all the performers took to the stage, the whole audience rose to their feet to give them all a much deserved standing ovation. They did they part in entertaining us, and helped to create lasting memories for families in attendance. And, I know for my family, we haven't been able to stop talking about it with family and friends, and I continue to encourage everyone who doesn't have tickets to buy them, as they will not want to miss this Cirque du Soleil show. I am even sending my parents who are fans of the Cirque du Soleil shows to this, as I know they will LOVE it, just like we did, and I don't want to miss out on an amazing show, that will be talked about for years to come.
Like I said, LUZIA just kicked off their run in Hartford, CT, and tickets are still available. So, don't delay in getting yours now. Then, get ready for the best Cirque du Soleil show of your life, and a lot of clapping. :-)

More about LUZIA:
To learn more about the integration of water in LUZIA, watch http://cirk.me/ LUZIAWaterVideo.
"Written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, in association with Brigitte Poupart, LUZIA takes you to an imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul.
With mesmerizing and refreshing acrobatic performances, LUZIA brings traditional and contemporary circus disciplines to a whole new level.
Cyr Wheel artists perform the unprecedented feat of rolling and spinning under the rain, while an aerialist suspended from a Trapeze flies and twirls through pouring showers. Hoop Diving is taken onto gigantic treadmills, expanding exponentially the speed and amount of daring leaps executed. Jaw-dropping highlights include a male contortionist skillfully twisting his body in the world’s most unimaginable positions, a powerful Aerial Straps specialist defying the laws of gravity at the center of cenote (natural sinkhole), and two football (soccer) freestylers deftly mixing street dance with mind-blowing ball manipulations. "
Disclosure: I was provided with complimentary tickets to attend the show and provide my honest review. All thoughts shared are mine and mine alone.
