Now that summer is in full swing, and the kids are out of school, have they started to come to you looking for you to keep them entertained? Even though I homeschool my girls and they are home with me 24/7, this is the first time I am giving my girls the summer off. So, with no school work to do, they are finding themselves with all this free time, and nothing to do. Yes, they have a house full of toys, bookcases full of toys, and each other to play with...but, that still isn't enough. Ugh...I thought summer vacation was supposed to be fun. If only the kids could find something to do that will keep them busy and having fun. Well, I have found something that is finally keeping my girls busy and entertained -- Pokemon trading card games.
Both of my girls are big Pokemon fans, and love searching for Pokemon stuff with their Daddy on the weekends with their phones. But, during the week, they needed something to keep them busy. After visiting our local library to pick up books to read for the summer reading program, the girls saw a bunch of kids gathering around a table for the weekly Pokemon Club meet up. They went to check out what the kids were doing, and saw them trading Pokemon cards and playing different Pokemon games. My girls knew about the different Pokemon trading card games as they would see the different card packs in the store. But, they never learned the games or acquired the cards to play. But, after seeing just how much fun the games were, and how the kids were really getting into the games and trading their cards, my girls wanted in.
Thanks to the folks at Excel Marketing, we were send a box of Pokemon trading card deks, add-on packs and even a Elite Trainer Box -- enough to get the girls started with the Sun-Moon Unbroken Bonds game, which the kids were playing at the library.
"When you have a partner you can count on, nothing can stop you! The TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX in the Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon—Unbroken Bonds expansion shows the colossal power of teamwork! With over 210 cards to collect, 7 brand-new TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, more than 25 Trainer cards, a new Special Energy card -- your opponent won’t stand a chance against your experience! Plus, with the Elite Trainer Box, you’ll find collectible dice, condition makers, energy cards, and much more! With trust and practice, these Pokémon can tackle just about anything! MSRP: $3.99 - $39.99"
Before heading back to the library the following week, the girls studied up on the cards, practiced with the Elite Trainer Box, and even sat with my husband to play some of their decks with the online game, against other Pokemon Sun-Moon Unbroken Bonds players/fans. The online gaming helped my girls get used to playing this addicting trading card game and ready for the library.
While I am not here to explain the game or what each of the card decks mean or can offer. I wanted to offer up a fun activity/hobby that you could get your kids into, if they are into Pokemon. Many local library host weekly Pokemon Club meet ups where kids of all ages can come together to trade their Pokemon cards, play the different deck games, or simply talk about their favorite Pokemon episodes, characters, and more. My girls now have something to look forward to outside the house each week during summer break. And, when they are home, they are studying up and trying to collect new cards to add their different Pokemon decks/sets including the Sun-Moon Unbroken Bonds one we were sent from the folks at Excel Marketing. You can find Pokemon trading card game trainer boxes, add on packs, and theme decks through online retailers like Amazon, as well as in most major retailers. My girls get all their Pokemon card stuff at our Target, and they are reasonably priced, so this new hobby will not break the bank :-)
If you are done with your kids asking you what they can do to keep busy or having you stop what you are doing to play with them, now is the time to get them hooked on Pokemon Trading Card Games including Sun-Moon Unbroken Bonds. I am so happy my girls got into this and love seeing them have fun at home and when they meet up with new friends at the library to talk all things Pokemon and play with their new trading card theme decks.
