If your family loves "Elf on the Shelf" for Christmas, then you will love the new "PEEP On a Perch," which is sure to be a new Easter tradition for many families, including my own.

Last month, I read a press release about Random House Children's Books partnering with the PEEPS brand to launch this new storybook set for Easter, and had to reach out and get my hands on a sample.  The new storybook set comes with a cute story to share with your kids about the PEEP on the Perch, as well as a plush yellow PEEP chick that they can cuddle with, before finding a spot on a shelf, table, etc. for the PEEP to hang out and watch over your kids, as they do good deeds leading up to Easter.

Unlike the Elf on the Shelf where parents have to move the elf around the house and set up different scenarios for the elf, for your kids to stumble upon and enjoy, the PEEP on a Perch is so much easier, yet just as fun.  Like I said, this PEEP is sent to watch over your kids, to make sure they do good deeds. The more good deeds the do, the more things this PEEP has to tell the Easter Bunny.  And, who knows maybe the Easter Bunny will be so impressed with your kids' good behavior and deeds done that they are left a few extra goodies in the baskets, to enjoy on Easter morning.

I don't know about you, but after the first week of hiding the elf and coming up with things to do with the elf, I am tired, and ready for the whole thing to be done with.  Yes, the girls love the whole idea of finding their elf the next day doing silly things, but as a busy parent, always on the go, the last thing I want to think about at night is what to do with a silly elf.  So, I have to admit, when I first heard about the new PEEP On a Perch, I thought, "Oh no, not another thing I have to hide each night."  But, then I read the full press release and visited the PEEP On a Perch page over at the Random House Children's Books website, and fell in love with the idea of having a cute PEEP watching my girls do good deeds.   It is funny how something like a plush toy set out to "watch" my girls, will make them behave better.  And, I know that when the girls wake tomorrow and see the yellow PEEP chicken on the bookshelf they left it at tonight, they will be reminded to do good deeds, help out, and behave, as they count down to the Easter Bunny's arrival in a few weeks.

Tonight before bed, I shared the cute PEEP On a Perch story that comes with the plush PEEP, to share about this new Easter tradition we were starting.

"The storybook, perfect for boys and girls ages 3 to 7, tells how the Easter Peep assists the Easter Bunny every year."

At first the girls thought the PEEP would be hiding like their elf.  But, I told them this wouldn't be the case.  Instead, they could touch and move the PEEP to different parts of the house where they were doing a good deed, so that the PEEP could see, and then be able to report back to the Easter Bunny.  They thought this was a neat idea, and started to think about good deeds they could do, or already do on a daily basis.  I loved listening to the girls talk about things they could do, like putting away their toys, helping to feed the animals, or clean up after dinner. My oldest even wants to help set the table, while my youngest said she can help load the washer machine and dryer for me.

I am excited to see how the PEEP On a Perch works out in our house.  Based on the excitement of the girls while reading the story and talking about the PEEP and good deeds after, I see this as being a great new Easter tradition, and one that the girls will look forward to each spring, as they gear up for the Easter Bunny's arrival in April.

If you are looking for fun new Easter tradition to start with your kids and are fans of the Christmas elf tradition, why not check out the new PEEP On a Perch, which is available now through many online retailers including Amazon, as well as in most major retail stores.  Then, get ready to introduce this cute yellow PEEP to your kids, and watch them be on their best behavior and do good deeds, for a few extra goodies come Easter morning!
