No matter your age, Disney movies likes Mary Poppins will warm your heart, when you sit to watch it. And, now for the new generations comes an all-new movie as a sequel to the iconic Mary Poppins we all grew up loving and watching time and again. "Mary Poppins Returns" which earned Academy Award nominations for best original song, best score, best costume design and best production design, was a hit with families, when it released in theaters last year. Unfortunately, my girls were sick and we missed it on the big screen. But, this movie was on our must see list for movies arriving to DVD and Blu-ray in 2019. In addition, we wanted to add this movie to our growing Disney movie collection, which I started in my early 20's and have added to all these years. I wanted to have a nice collection of family-friendly movies to share with my kids once I had them. And, now that I have two girls, I love having family movie night, just like I did with my brothers and parents growing up, watching these timeless Disney movies, as well as new releases that have become instant favorites.
This past Friday we ended up watching Mary Poppins Returns as our movie for movie night, and everyone loved it, including my husband, who really isn't into musicals or sing-along movies. I have been a fan of Emily Blunt's for years, and love how she stepped into this role as the beloved Mary Poppins, and sang her heart out. My girls, who were fans of the original Mary Poppins, found themselves loving this one even more. Their favorite part was the bathtub scene. And, when they saw how the scene was actually filmed, thanks to the bonus content included with the movie release, made them even more excited to see the movie again for this scene and others.
We really had a blast watching this Disney movie, and found ourselves singing along to the catchy tunes throughout the movie. And, when the movie was over, we all looked at each other said it was "Great," before following up with, "Let's watch it again soon." And, that we did, as the girls wanted to watch it again Saturday night and this afternoon after we finished school. This is definitely one of those Disney movies you will never grow tired of watching, and could watch over and over again.
