Have your kids come home with a letter from the teacher about an upcoming Valentine's Day part for their class? Even though my girls don't go to public school, as I homeschool, then still get to participate in fun holiday parties with their friends through different homeschool groups and co ops we are apart of. They love Valentine's Day as they love arts and crafts and making unique cards to hand out to friends. And, what kid doesn't love to come home with a box/bag full of cards they got from their friends and classmates? My girls love it, and love to display their favorite Valentines on their doors, for all to admire.
Recently, I was sent a copy of "Mirabel's Missing Valentines" written by Janet Lawler is the perfect book for teachers and families to read to their children. It is about a little mouse named Mirabel who dilly dallies on the way to school and ends up losing her handmade cards through a hole in her bag. The cards are found my townspeople, and they end up brightening up their days. This rhyming story will delight kids of all ages, as they read all about Mirabel's missing valentines, and learn a valuable lesson -- the more you give, the more you receive.
Mirabel had no idea the impact her cards made on the townspeople who found them. And, on her way home they tuck more valentines in her bag for her to find. This really is a cute Valentine's story that kids of all ages (as well as adults) will enjoy. There is also a discussion guide you can print out and use along with this book. The discussion guide includes pre-reading discussion questions, as well as suggested approach to the text, followed by some fun writing and math activities, kids in grades K-2 will enjoy.
I can't stop raving about this cute book with friends and family, and will be bringing this to one of our Valentine's Day parties, so that we can share it with the girls' friends, before they do their Valentines exchanges.
