I love subscription boxes, especially ones that deal with food, as I love trying new things and usually these box type services introduce me to brands and products I otherwise would not have tried on my own. So, when the folks at AmazingClubs.com reached out to me last week about be included in my valentine's Day Gift Guide, for a last minute gift idea option, I jumped at the opportunity to try out their service.
The kind folks at AmazingClubs.com sent along a sample box of their popular "Dinner & a Movie of the Month" and "The Early Bird, Breakfast of the Month" Clubs for me to try. Even though I read all about their boxes on their website, I had no idea what would arrive in each of the boxes, but was so happy when they arrived and I did my unboxing.
For the Dinner & a Movie box, I received a Redbox card for one free movie rental, as well as a bag of dried Italian Pesto Blend Pasta, a jar of Due Celluci Vodka Pasta Sauce, and a bag of Jody's toffee popcorn.
This was everything one would need for a fun date night in, complete with a good movie. All the monthly boxes, including this one, come with a double-sided newsletter. It features all the products included in the box, to give you more information about each, as well as featured recipe you could use the ingredients provided, if you wanted to take it up a notch. With this particular pasta box, the recommended recipe was for "Chicken with Peas, Parmesan and Prosciutto. You were provided with the ingredients needed, as well as the recipe. You don't need to be an expert chef to create this tasty recipe...I know as I had my husband help me in the kitchen Friday night, preparing the dish. When we sat down to eat the meal, he couldn't get over how tasty the pasta sauce was, and loved the Pesto blend pasta he helped cook up. But, the real fun came when the dishes were cleaned and put away, and we were ready to watch a movie. I had gone out earlier in the day to get the ingredients to make recipe, and picked up a movie from the Redbox kiosk outside the market. It was a nice treat not having to pay for the movie for once, and instead of the same old microwave popcorn we always have, we shared the toffee popcorn included in the box, and it was tasty.
I would have just been content with the Dinner and a Movie box, but thanks to the kind folks at AmazingClubs.com, they sent the breakfast box which my husband enjoyed using the contents with my girls this AM.
Every Sunday in our house is pancake Sundays. My husband wakes early with the girls, and lets me sleep in. The girls look forward to Daddy/Daughter time, and love coming up with new add-ins to the pancake batter they mix up. Then, they sit around the table and enjoy the pancakes they made together and talk about all the fun stuff that happened during the week while my husband was at work, and things they plan to do in the week ahead. My husband loves using this time to catch up with the girls, and being able to give them his undivided attention. And, what better way to start a Sunday than will a happy belly filled with pancakes, and chit chat with Daddy. :-) The "Early Bird" AmazingClubs.com box that we received included a box of buttermilk pancake mix from The Invisible Chef, a package of Neighbor's Coffee in Snickerdoodle flavor, Broadbent's Pepper Bacon, and Smoczyk's Maple Syrup (as you can't have pancakes without lots of maple syrup). And, just like with the Dinner and a Movie box, this box came with double-sided sheet offering up more information about the different products included in the box, as well as a recipe for Apple Puff Pancakes. We had everything on hand to make this recipe, so my husband and daughter's worked together to give it a try, and reported back to me when I came down later in the AM, that these were the yummiest pancakes they had ever made and ate. They were so good, that this evening for dinner, we had "Breakfast for Dinner" just so that they could make the recipe again. They didn't cook up the bacon this AM, as they knew I liked bacon, and wanted to save it so we could all try it. While my husband and girls cooked up the apple puff pancakes, I cooked the country bacon up on the stove. Oh, how I wish you could have smelled our house. Between the homemade pancakes and the bacon, it smelled amazing. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we would make breakfast for my mom on Mother's Day. My dad would always make crispy bacon, and my brothers and I would make pancakes for her. Oh, and don't get me started on the maple syrup that was included in this AmazingClubs.com breakfast box. Usually I am picky when it comes to syrup and will spend a few extra dollars of a higher quality product, as others on store shelves just take sugary and don't really have a maple taste. I was happy to see that this was an all natural maple syrup, with no additives or preservatives. You can't get any purer than this syrup, and we all found ourselves going a little syrup crazy, as it tasted so good. I could see this also pairing well with oatmeal or drizzled on top of fruit for a sweet snack. Mmm, my belly is getting hungry just thinking about this maple syrup and the contents that made up these two great monthly club boxes from AmazingClubs.com.
