One thing I love about New England weather is that it can change in a blink of an eye.  One minute forecasters are reporting a foot or more of snow, falling over the course of a couple of days, and then as the days go by, it goes up and then it goes down.  You never really know what to expect from Mother Nature, especially during the winter months.  All last week, we were bracing for lots of snow, followed by sleet and freezing rain.  And, then as the snow began to fall, so did the expected snow totals.  Here in Eastern CT we went from 8-12 inches to 3-6.  By the time all was said and done, about 3 inches fell. They did get the freezing rain part right, and that has left many driveways and side streets looking like ice skating rinks, including mine.

Because of all the hype of this major first snowfall for the season, everyone went crazy at the market stocking up on bread, milk, water, and other necessities to get them through the storm.  We all expected to be hunkered down for the entire weekend, and maybe even Monday of this week. But, Mother Nature played a joke on us, after we braved the grocery store lines and found ourselves once again stressing over a storm that was not to be as bad as they first said.  You would think that we New Englanders would learn...but, we just take these storms, both big and small, in stride.  Now, if only we had bought and filled our freezer with some liquor-infused ice cream, maybe it would take the edge off of this failed storm.

While I know family and friends who add booze to their necessities list to make it through a New England storm, I for, one, can't really enjoy it, when the kids are home and asking every second of the day what they can do or if you can play with them.  It does come in handy at night, but by that time you are tired and don't want to deal with up all night using the bathroom, or dealing with the dreaded hangover the next morning, as you wait to see if school is a go, or delayed or cancelled.

Instead of reaching for booze to help you deal with winter storms, why not consider stocking your freezer with Tipsy Scoop.  This liquor-infused ice cream, is hand-crafted in small batches, and is made up of 5% alcohol by volume.  And, each of Tipsy Scoops flavors are inspired by our favorite festive cocktail creations.  So, instead of trying to remember how to make a perfectly mixed cocktail when a winter storm hits, take the guess work out of the equation, by reaching for a pint of Tipsy Scoop ice cream instead.

I have found, after recently sampling a few of their flavors, that this liquor-infused ice cream is much better than booze or other hard liquor you would pick up during your mad dash to the store to get storm necessities. And, when the kids go to bed, you can enjoy this tasty ice cream with your sweetie, as you watch the snow fall outside.

Thanks to the kind folks at Tipsy Scoop, they helped get my husband and I through this first winter snow storm, as they sent a few of their favorite flavors for us to enjoy.  I waited until my husband came in from shoveling to show him the treat I had, as I knew it would be better than reaching for a cold beer or hard cider to quench his thirst. And, that it did!  He couldn't stop reaching for another spoonful of this liquor-infused ice cream.  He loved how it had that boozy taste, followed by the richness you expect from a top-quality hand-crafted ice cream. And, I had to agree with him, as I had to hold myself back from licking the empty ice cream pint clean. :-)

As my husband and I were enjoying sampling the three Tispy Scoop ice creams and sorbet sent to us, I couldn't stop talking about the different flavors they offered, and how this would make for a great addition to our upcoming in-home date night for Valentine's Day.

With two young children and family living far away, it is hard for us to get out for date nights.  So, we usually do date nights at home with dinner and a movie on a Friday or Saturday night, after the girls go to bed.  He agreed that he would love more of this liquor infused ice cream...now, to just decide on the flavors to order and have shipped to us in time for Valentine's Day, and the next big storm.

If you love ice cream and booze, then you will love Tipsy Scoop liquor-infused ice cream.  Once you try a spoonful, it will be hard to resist reaching for another and then another.  And, before you know it, the container will be empty and you will be hoping you have more on hand for another time.  So, instead of adding booze to your shopping list for the next big snow storm, order your Tipsy Scoop ice cream and sorbet now and have it ready and waiting in the freezer, so that you can brave the storm (big or small).  You'll thank me later!

And, like I said Tipsy Scoop also makes for a great Valentine's Day gift idea, and their Valentine's Day Pack ($48), which contains 4 pints of ice cream and sorbet, will put a smile on your sweetheart's face, and yours, when they hand you a spoon to share a pint together.
