Take a retro trip down memory lane with this exciting lineup of iconic movies that were mainstays on shelves of video stores across the nation!
If you grew up in the 80's and early 90's, then you probably relied on VHS tapes to record your favorite shows and movies when they aired on television. The same went for waiting by the radio on Sunday mornings to hear Casey Kasem count down the hits, just so you could record your favorite songs and make your own mix tapes to listen at home and in the car.
Now VHS tapes are now a thing of the past, but fans of retro movies like Who's Harry Crumb? and Last Action Hero can rejoice as the folks at Mill Creek Entertainment are set to release Blu-ray versions of these iconic movies. What is so neat about these upcoming retro releases is how the cover art is made to look like an old VHS tape.
When I first saw these movies, it brought me to back to my childhood and walking through the aisles of Blockbuster and the local variety store looking for a $.25 and $.50 movie to rent and watch with the family, or with friends. This was long before Redbox and streaming services. I used to love when Friday's would roll around as I knew this meant we would be going to the video store to rent movies for the weekend, and usually Schwarzenegger and John Candy were in many of the movies we rented and watched.
Even though these cool retro releases will not be available until January -- too bad as they would have made great stocking stuffer addition -- you can still pre-order them, and enjoy them as you welcome in the new year, with some of your favorite movies from the past.
Here is more about the two new retro Blu-ray releases I was recently sent from the folks at Mill Creek Entertainment...
About this Movie:
"John Candy is bigger, better and more bumbling than ever as the hilarious HarryCrumb - a big-hearted, soft-headed private eye and mixed-up master of disguise. When Harry, the last of the great sleuthing Crumbs - and the last person in the firm to ever get an assignment - finally gets a shot at a frontpage kidnapping, it’s only because his beady-eyed boss Eliot Draisen (Jeffrey Jones) doesn’t want the case solved. At stake is the gorgeous daughter of multi-millionaire P.J. Downing, a $10 million ransom, and Eliot’s hot-to-trot mistress (Annie Potts). Attired in a bizarre array of goofball disguises, from a Hungarian hairdresser to a hefty housewife - Harry is bound, gagged and determined to crack the case and prove that when it comes to crime, he’s one Crumb that won’t be swept under the carpet."
About this Movie:
"Danny Madigan (Austin O’Brien) knows the first three Jack Slater movies by heart and the fourth one is just about to be released. With the aid of a magical ticket, Danny gets to know the latest movie really well, literally speaking. While watching the opening action sequence during an advance screening, Danny is transported right into the movie! While on the other side of the silver screen, Danny becomes the sidekick of Jack Slater (Arnold Schwarzenegger), the toughest cop on the police force. Complications arise while Jack and Danny are working on the case, when one of the bad guys gets a hold of Danny’s magic ticket and escapes out of the movie into the real world. Now Danny and his hero Jack Slater must chase the arch villain in the real world, a world where evil guys can actually win!"

In addition to these two movies, which my husband and I watched this past Friday and loved, you can also pre-order these other great iconic films that you probably haven't seen in awhile, but will bring you back to your childhood when you used to watch these movies on repeat until the VHS tapes started to go, or your sibling would record over them by accident (which was the worst!).
