While I wish my girls could stay little a little bit longer, each and every day they do something that reminds me that they are are growing up, and becoming more and more independent. While they still have 8 more years until they head off to college, they are already doing "big girl" things like having sleepovers, doing intricate DIY arts and crafts projects, enjoying at-home spa days, and wanting to wear make up and pick out their own clothes, based on their moods and personal style. So, when I saw the new LaurDIY kits, which are new for 2018, I knew two girls were are 7/8 going on 30! :-)
LaurDIY kits are inspired by Lauren Riihimaki, a YouTube entertainer with a DIY channel called LaurDIY. She has over 15+ million followers across all her social media channels, and shares creative and cute videos with her followers featuring crafty tutorials, life hack and room decor ideas. My girls have their own YouTube channel they are working on, and draw inspiring for what they make videos about bases on some of their favorite YouTube celebrities/entertainers. When I showed the girls the two LaurDIY kits I was sent to review, they were all smiles and started telling me all about Lauren and the different room decor videos they have watched. I had wondered where they came up with ideas for message boards, picture frames and curtains, and now I know. :-)

Each of these DIY kits come with almost everything (batteries and salt for the two sets we were sent weren't included) your daughter will need to create stylish room decor craft that they will love and want to add to their "big girl" rooms. My girls really enjoyed the two DIY kits and didn't need my help to make their lamps. You don't need to worry about sewing with the Balloon Unicorn lamp kit, as this DIY craft only requires you to stuff, twist and tie to make this cute custom unicorn pillow.
The illuminating lamp kit took a little longer to make as you have to paint on watercolor paint to the paper board globe, and then have to sprinkle on salt and let dry. While it looks nicer with the salt added to the paper board globe for texture, if you don't have you can skip this step. The paint along looks really nice. Once the paper board is dry, you have to bend and put together, and are ready to go. My youngest daughter had so much fun painting the globe and blending paint colors. But, the real fun came when she turned on the color changing tea light and saw the twinkling lights all over her room. She said, "This is so cool, and is going to make my room look amazing!" And, that it did!
I am sad to say that with the addition of these two DIY lights to my girls' rooms, they now want to get more of these LaurDIY kits and watch more of her Lauren's YouTube craft tutorials to get more ideas for DIY room decor crafts and projects they can work together on, to make their rooms more grown up looking. I really like seeing my girls get excited about creating their own unique and oh so stylish room decor, and thanks to these new LaurDIY kits, they can have fun crafting together, and coming up with fun ways to decorate their bedrooms.
