Teach Your Kids to be Money-Conscious Spenders This Holiday Season by Gifting them Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Jr. Kit and Books for Kids and Teens (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent samples from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Are you a fan of Dave Ramsey?  He is the author of 7 national best selling books, hosts The Dave Ramsey Show, and help adults manage and get out of debt, and save money.  In addition to his books for adults, he also has books and products for kids and teens, to get them on the right financial track early on, so that they know how to budget and handle their finances as they get older and start working and earning money.

Both my husband and I are fans of Dave Ramsey and have read his books.  And, now that our girls are older, we have been using his Junior Adventures books with our girls.  And, this year as part of our homeschooling I have introduced his Financial Peace Jr. set with the girl and they have started smart saving with the Smart Saver bank you can find over at https://www.daveramsey.com, along with all Dave's books and products, for the whole family.

While kids expect Santa to bring toys from their wish lists, why not consider giving your kids the gift of financial awareness and that will make a difference in their lives now and in the future.  This is the perfect time of year to remind kids that Christmas is not about the materialistic stuff, but about family.

I was recently sent some of Dave Ramsey's products for kids to check out and use with my girls, and I have to say I am really impressed with them. They have definitely come in handy in our homeschooling as I have added "Financial Peace" as part of our schooling.  In addition to learning about money and how to make change when shopping, I am also teaching my girls how they should save money they get for birthdays, holidays, allowances, etc.  They are now taking a $1.00 and breaking it up three parts -- spending, saving, and giving -- which they learned about as part of Dave Ramsey' Smart Money Smart Kids products.

Here is more about these Smart Money Smart Kids products, which would make for great gift ideas for kids 6+ and teens this holiday season. They may not think they are as fun as toys, but in the long run they will thank you for getting them started on the path of financial peace.

I am so glad I was able to review some of Dave Ramsey's Junior Adventures products with my girls.  His kits and books are jam packed with fun and educational ways to teach children about the importance of saving, spending and over money management.   I remember as a child, I would always look forward to Saturdays, as this was the day that I received my allowance for the week.  I earned $1.00 if I completed all my chores, which included cleaning my room, help setting and clearing the table nightly and bringing down my laundry each Friday night.  I had a plastic water jug in my closet, where I would put my earning money, as well as loose change I found or was given.  I loved trips to the market with my father, as he would give me his loose change after the transaction was done.  Over time, I would save up enough money to buy a toy I wanted, or a special treat at the store or a restaurant.  And, when birthdays and holidays rolled around, I was given more money from family and friends, which meant more opportunity to save and then spend down the road.

As a child, I was taught to save my money in order to be able to purchase something that I wanted.  If I didn't have the money saved, then I couldn't buy it.  Each spring and winter, we would go through our clothes and donate them to charity, in addition to my parents giving money to charity.  I don't remember ever being asked to give some of my earned allowance money or gift money to charity, until I was in my teens.  I don't know if I would have wanted to part with my piggy bank money at a younger age, as money to me was just to save and spend on myself.  But, now that I am older, I see money in a different light, and hope to instill these values in my daughters.

With the help of the Smart Saver Bank, that is included in the Adventure Pack (also can be bought individually for only $17.99), I am be able to teach my daughters to save, give and spend their earned money.  In addition, with the colorful books in the Story time Book set, as well as the Financial Peace Jr. Kit, teaching about money will not be a chore.  Instead, I am able to make it fun, which makes my daughters want to learn about creating a money plan, paying of debts, saving their money and spending consciously and not frivolously.

They are loving setting up their weekly chore list, and working with me to figure out how much they should get for doing each chore.  Then, it is up to them to make sure their chores are done on a daily/weekly basis.  At the end of the week, we review their chart and they are paid their allowance based on what they have completed.  Then, they split their money earned into the 3-part smart savers bank.  They look forward to this, and can't wait to use the "giving" savings this holiday season, and will be adding their "savings" money earned to their CHET educational savings account at the end of the year. They are learning that things cost money, and that you can't just get something because you want it.  You have to save your money and then decide if it is something you really need, or just a want.

Hat's off to Dave Ramsey for these fun books, kits, savings bank, etc. for kids and teens.  I have been reading Dave's books for years,  and have found useful tips that my husband and I have applied to our daily lives.  As a result, we have cut our debt, created a necessary nest egg, and now how a money plan in place.  Children can get on this track at a young age, so that when they are adults, they will know the importance of spending and saving, and not have money issues, like credit card debt, etc.  And, you can start them on the right financial track with the help of Dave Ramsey and his products made especially for kids.

If you are looking for a fun way to educate your child(ren) about finances, why not pick up some of the above mentioned products/books today.  You can even order parts of his kits individually, which is great for money-conscious spenders.  This is one investment that will be worthwhile not only for your child, but for you, as it will help make raising a financially responsible child easier.  To learn more about these products for kids from Dave Ramsey, head on over to https://www.daveramsey.com.
