In addition to the Vince Gill Christmas album that we have been listening to, I also have another holiday soundtrack that was sent to me, and that has become an instant favorite of mine.   It is by Paul Cardall, who has a massive world audience of fans who love classical crossover, contemporary Christian and new age music.  I was not familiar with his work until this album, but am now a fan, and can't wait to check out his previous work.

Paul Cardall's new collection Christmas, is his first Christmas album in 13 years.  It released back on November 2nd, and is available through iTunes, Amazon and PaulCardall.comThis Christmas album includes timeless melodies that are reworked and made to sound brand new. This is one of those special albums that will make you fall in love with Christmas all over again, while also stirring up memories of your childhood of the holiday season. It is truly a breathtaking album, that will resonate with families, and touch them as they listen to this new CD.  It is a great reminder about the true meaning of Christmas which is redemption and the birth of Christ.

I will not lie, I got goosebumps listening to this album, especially the track where CeCe Winans lends her voice to "O Holy Night." There is just something about her angelic voice that really made this holiday classic that much more special.  My girls and I had been singing along to the previous songs on the album, but as soon as CeCe started to swing, we stopped and listened in awe to her voice, as she moved us.  I found myself thinking back to my childhood and time spent with my family during the holidays, and then looked at my girls and felt blessed to now have a family of my own to recreate some of my childhood holiday traditions with them, as well as start new ones.

One holiday tradition that I loved as a kid, and love doing now with my girls is grabbing hot chocolate and warm blanket and piling into the family car to drive around after dinner and check out all the Christmas lights up on houses.  My mom would usually bring a Christmas album in the car to listen to as we enjoyed the Christmas lights and time together as a family.  Even with all the stress of the holidays, car rides like this with the family made everything else go away for that moment in time, and we were all in the moment enjoying family and feeling blessed to be able to be together, and celebrate the holiday season.

This year when we take the girls to check out Christmas lights I will be definitely be bringing Paul Cardall's new "Christmas" album to enjoy.  He really is a master on the piano. And, I am so happy I was introduced to him this year and the first album I listened to of his was this breathtaking one.  I can't stop listening to it, and know it will be on repeat for the better part of this holiday season, and for Christmas' to come.

If you are a fan of Paul Cardall or like instrumental piano music, then you will want to check out his new CD which is available as of Nov. 2nd.  This is one album that will move you and will become a soundtrack you will reach for for years to come.  Well done, Paul!

More About this Album:

"With music lovers streaming his songs more than 25 million times a month, it’s obvious Paul Cardall knows how to tap emotions through music.  The acclaimed composer/pianist does it again with CHRISTMAS, which will be released November 2, 2018.

Recorded at Nashville’s legendary Ocean Way Studios, the classical crossover project features Cardall’s spin on such beloved holiday standards as “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella,” “Away in a Manger” and “Joy to the World” as well as such compelling originals as “Son of God” and “Christmas Past.” The album also features vocal collaborations from three world-class voices---12-time Grammy winner CeCe Winans, award-winning singer/songwriter Audrey Assad and Australia’s Broadway star Patrice Tipoki. Look for this moving collection to become the soundtrack of your Christmas celebrations year after year!

Christmas includes ten of Cardall’s stunning instrumental interpretations of such timeless classics as “Hark The Herald Angels Sing,” “Joy to the World” and “Away in a Manger.” In addition to Winans, Cardall invited two other vocalists to make appearances. Award-winning singer/songwriter Audrey Assad offers an ethereal interpretation of “In the Bleak Midwinter,” and Australian Broadway star Patrice Tipoki soars on Cardall’s original “Son Of God.” “This song is so much bigger than the notes on the page,” states Tipoki. “Paul and Jim and [mastering engineer] Michael Bishop have done a wonderful job in bringing new life to a song that has already touched so many people.”

Creating a memorable Christmas collection was a personal mission for Cardall. “The heart of all my music is the whole reason we celebrate Christmas,” he shares. “The holiday brings people together -- strangers, family. We all long to be with each other. This album speaks volumes about those emotions. With all our differences, we come together, have a meal, make a toast and celebrate joy, gratitude, the Christ child…all of it. This is the purpose and mission of all my music.”"
