Last month we made a stop at the Lakeshore Learning store in Rhode Island, as I wanted to pick up a few new educational games for the girls and I to play as part of our homeschooling. While I browsed around at their educational toys and games, my husband walked with the girls through the aisles checking out and playing with all the new toys, many of which just released in time for the upcoming holiday season. My girls love when we go to this store, as unlike other toy stores, this store lets you try out many of their toys and products through demos they have set up throughout the store. I can't tell you how many times I have spent money on a toy or game my girls just had to have, only to get it home and have them play with it once or twice and then see it thrown into the corner of the playroom to collect dust. That was hard earned money thrown out the window, for a so-called must have toy. But, that is never the case with products from Lakeshore Learning, as they are top quality, parent-approved products that kids and their parents/caregivers will love, and that will be played with time and again.
During the girls' browsing, they came across the new Bedroom Design Studio.

This is a new toy for the 2018 holiday season, and is definitely going to be one of the hot toys of the year. My girls had to pull me over to the display to show me the toy, and had me promise to write this down on their wish lists to Santa. Instead of leaving it to Santa to bring, I reached out to the folks at Lakeshore Learning, and they graciously offered to send along a sample for the girls to try firsthand.
The Bedroom Design Studio sample came about a week later, and brought instant smiles to my girls' faces. They couldn't wait to play with it, and see how easy it was to design their own bedroom, without the need to sew.
Even though I have taught my girls to sew, and they enjoy it, they also like toys like this that allow them to use their creativity and imagination to design and come up with fun ways to decorate a space -- in this case, a bedroom.
Like I said, this is a no sew design studio, which makes it suitable for kids ages 4-11 years old age. My girls are 7 and 8, and love the Bedroom Design Studio from Lakeshore Learning. As soon as they read through the directions, which come with set by step photos for young children who can't read but want to be independent and use this toy right out of the box, my girls were off and running with the design process.
I love seeing my girls play together nicely, without fighting, and coming up with fun ways to use a toy.
They worked together in choosing which patterned fabric should go with what furniture piece or be used as curtains, as well as choosing a decorative wall panel to bring the bedroom to life. When they were done, they grabbed some of their 4-6" dolls and plush toys to play with with their newly designed bedroom set.
My girls loved how this was an easy to design -- the set uses buttons you push into the furniture to hold the fabric in place.
No cutting or sewing is necessary. And, switching up the fabrics to change the style of the room is quick and easy. We have only had the Bedroom Design Studio for about a month, but it continues to be one of my girls' favorite toys to play with. They are currently using it in place of a bedroom set in their dollhouse, as they say it looks much better, and that they love to switch up the curtains and fabric on the bed and stool each day, to give the room a fresh new look. :-)
I am so happy we had the opportunity to try out the Bedroom Design Studio from Lakeshore Learning, and this is yet another toy that continues to be played with, and gets my girls using their imaginations for more creative play.
