If you live in New England, you may be a little tired from staying up to watch the Boston Red Sox, and sit through a tense ninth inning. Games like the one we saw last are not good for people with heart problems, as we all found ourselves on the edge of our seats, hoping the Red Sox came out on top...and, that they did! The Red Sox are back in the ALCS for the first time since 2013. Woohoo!, sorry Yankees fans...well, not really, but I would be upset waking up sad if it was the other way around. But, for now, me and all other Red Sox fans are living on last night's win and hoping that they can sweep in the ALCS and be called World Series champs again. I know they can do it!
I am originally from the Boston area, and grew up in Massachusetts. Then, when I moved to CT, I had many people asking who I rooted for -- the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees. Because CT is in the middle of these two rival states, I guess you had to pick sides. Being a life-long Red Sox fan, I couldn't drift to the other team. But, that is not to say that many of my friends and even my husband feel the same way. My husband, who isn't a big sports fan, finds himself rooting for the winning team, when it comes to play offs and World Series games. But, last night, he was rooting for the Yankees, as he thought the Red Sox were getting cocky with their recent wins. Well, I guess I can't blame, as I have felt that way before when the Yankees were winning, and I secretly hopes someone would drop a ball, or try and steal a base and be tagged out, so my beloved Red Sox could win instead.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox rivalry is a real thing, and for those who live in the New England area and are true die-hard baseball fans, you don't mess with their beloved teams, or talk trash about them, or you may find yourself with one less friend. While I haven't lost any friends or family over my love of the Red Sox, I do have many friends who are Yankee fans and think they know it all when it comes to sports trivia. So,
So, this past Monday night, I decided to have some friends over for dinner and to watch the game. I didn't tell them I had two sports trivia games for them to try out with me. But, after the game started and we all knew the Red Sox were going to take the game -- they ended up winning 16-1 that night. That's my boys! During the game, I brought out two "You Gotta Know" Sports Trivia game tins. One was all about New York, and the other was Boston sports trivia.
This was fitting as the two rivals were pitted against each other in the post season, to see who would go on to play in the World Series.
Each of the sports tins contains 135 trivia cards, with over 500 trivia questions. And, the rules are easy...the first person to 21 wins! Now, I had a game that could finally settle who knew their sports trivia amongst my friends, once and for all. While snacking on pizza and watching the game, I paired people up into teams, and started asking questions, which covered all different sports -- football, baseball, basketball and even local college teams. A true sports trivia geek has to be up on all things related to players, coaches, draft picks and even trades -- and "You Gotta Know" sports trivia games will truly test their knowledge to find who the true obsessed sports geeks are, and who is bluffing.
Like I said, you have to be the first to get to 21 to win the game, and to do that you have to answer trivia questions correctly. Points are earned based on the difficulty of a question, and you will find the point value of each question listed directly on the cards. This truly is a fun "race to 21" game that will have sports fans yelling and screaming just like they would when yelling at the umpires or players during a live televised broadcast, but this time around the table, or at your next tailgate, campfire, or man cave meetup, as you all race to answer as many questions as you can correctly and get to "21" first.
We had so much fun playing with the two "You Gotta Know" sports trivia games, and I have to say, I thought I knew my Boston sports trivia, but I got my butt whooped. But, all is good, as my team won last night's game to advance to the ALCS against the Astros, with the first game happening this Saturday. I will have friends over again to watch the game, and they are already asking me to pull out my "You Gotta Know Boston" Sports Trivia tin to pass the time during the commercial breaks. Thankfully no Houston Astros fans will be in attendance, so everyone will be rooting for the home team. But, if you are a fan, you can pick up the new Houston sports trivia game from "You Gotta Know," which released in Sept.
Even if you aren't a Boston Red Sox or NY Yankees fan, you can still get in on the sports trivia fun, as "You Gotta Know" has the following tins available:
