To kick off my annual "Welcome in Fall with a Good Book" feature, I wanted to share two recent Animal Planet chapter books my girls and I finished reading. You may recall back in the beginning of summer, I shared a few Animal Planet books with you. This was the first time I had seen or read chapter books from Animal Planet with my girls. But, seeing how much they enjoyed them and how much they learned from the books, I made a point to pick up more for them to read the rest of the summer.
In addition to the books I picked up, the kind folks at Time Inc. Books sent me two other Animal Planet Adventure books for my girls and I too check. We were sent the first two books in this popular chapter book "mystery solving" adventure series -- (1) Dolphin Rescue and (2) Farm Friends Escape!.

If you have a child who is reading chapter books and enjoys books about animals, then they will love the Animal Planet Adventure series. My girls really got into this books, and loved being able to solve the mystery by solving problems along the way. And, I as a parent enjoyed these books as they really make kids pay attention, and you know that when they are reading these books they are comprehending and taking in everything they are reading, in hopes to solve the mystery in the end.
Colorful illustrations dispersed throughout the short chapters, keep even the most reluctant reader entertained. And, knowing that there is a mystery or problem to solve will make kids want to keep reading. I had to make a point to have my girls read these books during the day, as they would want to stay up at night when reading them to find out what happened. My girls were able to read these books in about 90 minutes from start to finish, and loved swapping books in the series with each other, and the talking about their favorite parts. We currently have all the books in the Animal Planet Adventures series, and are hoping more will be released, as they are so much fun to read. While my girls wait for more to be released, they are enjoying reading these books over and over again, and sharing them with friends, to get them hooked, too!
