I am a huge Melissa McCarthy fan, and make a point to watch all her movies.  One movie I missed when it was in theaters, however, was her "Life of the Party" movie, which has her going through a divorce after 20+ years and deciding to go back to college, along with her daughter and her friends.  Just imagine if you went back to school in your 40's and 50's and trying to blend/fit in with the 20 somethings?  Then, imagine Melissa McCarthy's character doing this...you know it will make for a great comedy...and, that it does!

Usually I wait until Friday or Saturday night to watch movies with my husband, after the girls go to bed.  But, it has been a crazy week with classes outside the house with the girls driving a lot, and a lot of business meetings and training classes for my husband, so we were looking for a way to kick back and relax and just laugh.  So, when I received the Blu-ray/DVD Combo, which is available in stores and online on August 7th, I knew this is just what we needed.  So, last night we popped some popcorn and kicked up our feet, and watched this movie.  Right from the start we were both smiling and laughing. It was great to see Maya Rudolph playing Melissa's best friend in this movie.  I loved her on SNL and whenever she would do sketches alongside Melissa McCarthy when she stopped by SNL, they would both kill it and have you laughing and talking about the sketch for days after.  And, these two women together in this film, made the movie even better.

With the help of Deanna's (McCarthy's character) daughter and her friends, she goes from a dull soon to be divorced housewife to a cool old school college student ready to take advantage all the college has to offer.  She attends frat parties, looks up with a random guy in the library, eats weed-laced chocolate, and so much more, in order to get the full college experience.  The movie is like a "mother of all comebacks" in that she is looking to make a change after this life-changing event in her life, and she isn't holding back.

I could go on and on about just how funny this movie is.  My husband agreed with me that it was hilarious and one movie will be watching again soon.  And, there is a great selection of bonus features including a laugh-out-loud gag reel that will have you tearing up...it is that funny, deleted scenes, and so much more.  If you are looking for a movie to watch for date night, or excuse to get your girlfriends together before the summer is over, then make a point to pick "Life of the Party," now available for purchase in Digital HD format, or pre-order on DVD or Blu-Ray Combo, available on August 7th.  This is one of those movies you don't have to put much thought into and just sit back and relax and get ready to laugh from start to finish.

Here is more about this movie, along with the official movie trailer, if you weren't aware of it...
