I love when I stumble upon a new children's author to share with my girls. If you follow my blog, and have seen the recent posts I shared, then you know we love books in our house. I wish you could see the many bookcases we have filled with books for the girls to grab a book and enjoy. I grew up loving to read, and love when I see my girls fall in love with a book or say they have a new favorite author. And, thanks to two recent books we were sent from the folks at Disney Hyperion, my girls and I have a new favorite children's author -- Deborah Underwood.
I am surprised this author wasn't on my radar before as she has written a number of children's books including the New York Times bestsellers including "Here Comes the Easter Cat," "The Quiet Book," and "The Loud Book!". But thanks to her recent releases -- "Super Saurus and the Egg" and "Part-Time Mermaid (stay tuned for a review of this book)," my girls and I now know about this author and will be looking for future releases from her to pick up and enjoy.
"Super Saurus and the Egg" is a fun book to share with little ones who are expecting a new sibling for the first time. Even though we aren't expanding our family anymore, the girls still enjoyed this book as the story was fun and the playful and colorful illustrations really brought the cute story to life.
The story is about a dinosaur family expecting a new baby. Arnold, the older brother, isn't 100% sure the egg his parents bring home is actually a new dinosaur baby. He thinks it could be a an egg of doom. And, this thought starts all the fun of this story, as readers are drawn into the imagination of Arnold, as he imagines what the egg could be when it hatches. My girls found themselves getting swept up in the imaginary world of Arnold and found themselves wondering if the egg was something besides a sibling for him.
Your kids will have a blast flipping through the pages as they eagerly await, like Arnold is, to see what the egg hatches into. Will it be a baby brother or sister, or something else? You will just have to pick up this cleverly-written children's book to find out. Toddlers expecting a new addition to the family will especially love this book.
More about this book:
"When Arnold’s parents bring an egg home and tell him he’s going to be an older brother, Arnold is not convinced. Arnold knows the egg could be anything. . . maybe even an EGG OF DOOM! If a vampire-saurus flies out of the egg, Super Saurus will be ready! If a planet-crushing robot stomps out of the egg, Super Saurus will be ready! If Maud the Marauder jumps out of the egg, Super Saurus will be ready! But what happens if the Egg of Doom turns out to be Arnold’s new little brother or sister? With the same wit, humor and charm that shines in Super Saurus Saves Kindergarten, readers will be captivated by Arnold’s super imagination."
