As part of our homeschooling, I like to share different cultures and traditions with my girls so that they can see how people from all walks of like and around the world celebrate their faith, heritage and cultural differences. Recently I introduced Ramadan to my girls, which begins this Thursday and runs through the rest of the month. Do you want Ramadan is and who celebrates it? If not, here is a little background on the holy month of Ramadan.
"Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief."
Even though this was a small book, it really does a great job in introducing young children to traditions celebrated all around the world, and highlighting how Ramadan is a time for reflection, to be thankful and also as a time to help others.
My girls really enjoyed this new board book, and I have found the pulling it from the shelf to read time and again. And, this past weekend when we were visiting with my parents for Mother's Day they had to share about the upcoming holiday, and when my Mom said she didn't know what it was, they quickly brought her up to speed and schooled her. :-)
If you celebrate Ramadan with your family, or are like me and like to share traditions and celebrations celebrated all around the world with your child, then you will want to pick up the new "Ramadan" book in the new board book series, "Celebrate the World." I can't wait to see what other books are released in this children's series, and will definitely be picking them up for the girls and I to enjoy.

This looks so bright and cheery and one the kids would really enjoy.
