Available on April 3rd
I am loving this time of year -- no, not because of all the snow storms we have been having lately, but because soon enough it will be spring, and with spring brings opening day for baseball fans. Which team will you be rooting for? Being from Massachusetts, I will be rooting for the Boston Red Sox. Woot, Woot! :-)
As we all wait for the first pitch to be thrown out for the 2018 major league baseball season, my girls and I are reading up and learning all about baseball (as they are new to the game and finally showing interest), thanks to the new "The Baseball Fanbook" which arrives on shelves on April 3. This middle readers book from Sports Illustrated Kids is chock full of MLB quizzes and fun facts for fans of the game -- both young and old.
THE BASEBALL FANBOOK is the next installment in the popular Fanbook series, as the The Football Fanbook was released back in August 2017. Think you know all about MLB?...well, this book will leave you saying, "Wow, I didn't know that! and "Oh, how cool!" as you learn about in-depth stats, unique lingo and awesome team tidbits.
Here is more about this upcoming release, which is sure to delight baseball fans as they eagerly await opening day...
"Popping into your inbox this morning to follow up on a title recently sent your way from Sports Illustrated Kids Books. THE BASEBALL FANBOOK ( on sale April 3, 2018 / ages 8 & up) is such a fun little book that middle readers (& older - my fiance is all about this one!) are going to be obsessed with, especially the MLB quizzes at the end of the book. There's a lot to love in this one!
This is the next installment in the popular Fanbook series (The Football Fanbook, August 2017), and is chock-full of all the nerdy-cool insider knowledge that fans ready for next-level, in-depth stats need to know. Tailor-made for baseball fanatics who know the basics of the sport they love and are looking to become super fans, this new fanbook is filled with fun trivia, unique lingo, and illustrated behind-the-skills how-to's. Chapters include Team Tidbits (facts about every MLB team), Think Like a Manager (essential strategies), He Reminds Me Of (comparing current plays to legendary greats), and much more! "

We have only had this book for about a week, and are already halfway through the book. The girls are really getting into the book and can't wait to sit and watch a Boston Red Sox game on television with us this year. I am also thinking to take them to McCoy Stadium in RI to see a minor league game, so they can hear the roaring sounds from the crowd and the balls cracking off the bats, as they fly out into the field. As with all Sports Illustrated Kids books, this book is filled with full-color photos, and written for even the youngest of readers to understand. I couldn't believe how much my girls got into the book. They are especially loving the team tidbits and learning about the different players. I liked reading the section where they compared current MLB players to legendary ones. It got me thinking about doing a fun homeschool unit study on baseball over the years. I know the girls will be up for, as they can't get enough of this book.
So, as we all wait for the snow to melt, and for Opening Day, when not consider picking up the new "The Baseball Fanbook" which arrives in stores on April 3rd. With 192 pages, this book will keep baseball fans young and old engaged, as they flip through and read all about baseball. I have been loving sharing my love of the game with my girls, and can't wait to finally take in a game with them.
