Holiday Gift Guide 2017: Kids Will Go Crazy for These Fun New Games from Goliath Games (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent samples from the vendor in exchange for an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Goliath

Does your family have a favorite game brand?  For my girls, they are all about Goliath Games.  If you watch televison with your kids then you have probably seen a handful of the popular new games from Goliath Games that are on many kids wish lists for Santa. My girls had Googley Eyes on the top of their wish lists, as they thought this would be a fun family game to play during our Friday night game nights...

googly

While they wait to see if Santa will be bringing them this silly game, which will surely be a hit at game night, we have been having a blast trying out a few of their new games, which we were recently sent to review.

"Uh oh – the Fox is in the hen house! This greedy fox is snapping up the chickens and stuffing them into his pockets. But when there are too many chickens, his pants will fall down and the chickens will escape! Roll the die to see how many chickens to add into the fox’s pockets, and push his head one time. Before you know it, the fox will lose his pants and the chickens will roll everywhere! Rescue the chickens and return them to your chicken coop. Be the first player to fill up your coop to win! Can you Catch the Fox?"

Contents:
1 Fox and his pants, 21 chickens,
4 chicken coops, 1 die, 1 sticker sheet
Object of the Game:
Be the first to save 5 chickens by filling up your chicken coop.

I had told my girls I was planning to reach out to the folks at Goliath Games to feature some of their new games in my gift guide and asked if they had any other games in mind besides the Googley Eyes one they had on their wish list to Santa.  My youngest was quick to blurt out "Catch the Fox," which I hadn't heard of.  She was quick to fill me in on the game and tell me how you play it and how someone wins.  You would think with all the detail she game that she had played this game before.  But, nope, she just watch the video of the game on YouTube a handful of times, and forgot to add it to her wish list. Here is the video that she saw, that got her excited about this new game from Goliath Games, which is geared towards children ages 4+ and can be played with 2-5 players...

I can see after watching this video why she was so excited about it and passionate in how she described it in so much detail. This game looks like it would be a fun game for young kids to play, and it sure was. We have only had this and the other two games from Goliath Games  for a couple weeks, but the girls can't get enough of them, and are always heading to the game shelf to pull one of them done.  And, when my parents game for Thanksgiving this past week, Catch the Fox was a must play with the grandparents.  The girls had so much fun setting up the game and explaining the rules to them. Once the game started, the excitement started and everyone was rushing to rescue chickens to bring back to their coops.  And, every time the fox dropped his pants, the girls couldn't help but giggle as they thought this was hilarious.  :-)

doggie-doo-package

"Introducing the all new Doggie Doo game! Everyone’s favorite pup is back, with a new and improved look! Feed your doggie, and squeeze the leash. After he makes his gassy sounds – plop! If you are the player who cleaned up the doo, you get a fart token. The player who has the most tokens at the end of the game wins!"

• New improved design uses food pellets that make for mess-free clean up
• Models responsibility in a fun (and gross!) way
• 120 million views on Youtube and counting

We owned the previous version of this game and loved it.  The only issues we had was that the old game used playdoh you had to roll up and push into the dog's mouth with a long stick. The food never seems to get pushed where it had to go to be passed along the stomach and out the backseat smoothly.  Like other people who have played the older version, we found ourselves fidgeting with the food and trying to figure out the right amount to add, to get the poop to come out right.  But, being a dog lover, Savannah always reached for this game during our family game nights, and we would play it, even if there were a few hiccups.

So, when I heard the folks at Goliath Games were improving the popular game to help alleviate the headache of the food/poop issues, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the game to share with my girls.  I knew Savannah would be excited to see it, and as a family who plays this on an almost weekly basis, we would love that we wouldn't have to hassle with the food and stick any longer.    And, thanks to this new and improved version this game has been played over a dozen times so far, and we haven't run into any issues at all. :-)

We were also send Fish Food from Goliath Games.  I knew about this game as the girls and I have seen commercials for this game on television.  I thought it looked like a fun game, and when we got a chance to try it, I have to say it was one of my favorite Goliath Games to date.

"Fish Food is the FINtastic game with the smart fish that knows how to play! If he lands on you, feed him one of your cards. Watch out on the next spin – he may spit the card back to you! Get rid of all of your cards to win. The fish knows who wins and will call out the winner at the end of the game."

  • This smart and sassy fish counts the cards and tells you who wins
  • Distinct open box design stands out on the shelf
  • Players take turns feeding the hungry fish to get rid of their cards, but watch out!
  • He may spit a card back at you!
  • No reading required!
This game really doesn't require any skill and no reading is required, so it makes for the perfect game to give young children especially around the age of 4 this game for the holidays.  The only thing they need to be able to do is hold all their worm cards in their hand and be ready to feed the fish a card when he spins around to them. But, be careful as the fish randomly shoots out the worm card at different players throughout the game, as if to tell you he doesn't like that worm.  Game play continues until one player feeds the fish all his worm cards.  And, the coolest thing about this game is that the fish keeps track of the cards and players and knows who the winner is and will spin around and land on the winner and congratulate them. When we first played this game, my girls thought this was the neatest thing. They wondered how the fish knew Savannah won, and if there was any magic involved. :-)  Because this game requires little skill, it is a fun game for the girls to pull down and play together.  And, game play usually only lasts between 5-10 minutes, so it is a quick game if kids are looking for something fun to play, that will not take a lot of time.

We had so much fun trying out these three new games from Goliath Games.  And, just yesterday the girls saw a few more commercials on television for some of the other new Goliath Games, so I am expecting them to write another letter to Santa, or start a new list for when they get money from the relatives for Christmas, and then can go out and buy what they want.  I love how my girls are all about games, and how they really get into playing these fun games. And, the best part besides keeping them entertained is that when they play these games, they get along so nicely and are laughing and enjoying each others companies. :-)

In addition to purchasing the above mentioned games online at Amazon, you can also find these and other products from Goliath Games at most major retailers including Walmart, Target, Barnes & Noble and Toys 'R Us.  So, instead of filling the tree with toys your kids will probably only play with a handful of times before the newness wears off, why not consider adding some new games to your game shelf.  Like I said in the beginning, my girls really like Goliath Games and we haven't been disappointed with a game from this brand yet.  They are always fun to play with as a family, or the games keep the kids entertained when they are bored and looking for something to do, or want to play a quick game with friends.
