"Hi, I’m Earth! But you can call me Planet Awesome."
I was first introduced to children's author, Stacy McAnulty early this year when my daughter picked up "Mr. Fuzzbuster Knows He's the Favorite" at the bookstore. She can't get enough of cats and dogs and whenever she sees books at the store about them, she just has to have them. After looking at the cover art and flipping through the pages, I thought this was a really cute book that was well-written, and with illustrations that were playful and fun. This book became a favorite of Savannah's and I found a new author to keep on my radar for the girls, as I was impressed her Stacy's writing. So, when I stumbled upon a new children's publicity and marketing company recently, Blue Slip Media, I was excited to see a new book from Stacy McAnulty, which was all about the planet Earth. While it wasn't a cat or dog book, I knew the girls would love it as we recently did and Earth-themed week as part school and the girls really got into it, and had asked to go the library to get more books about our planet.
After reaching out to the folks at Blue Slip Media, they kindly sent along EARTH! My First 4.54 Billion Years for me to share with my girls, and include a write up in my gift guide. I was able to see sample pages of the book through Amazon and thought this was a really neat book. Who knew that you could make learning about Earth so much fun, while also educating young children at the same time.
Here is a little more about this recent release:

This book was chock full of Earth facts that are easy to understand for kids. My girls are 6 and 7, and had some great questions about Earth after reading this book, that I never expected them to ask. I guess we will be going to the library to do more research, thanks to this book, which is told by the point-of-view of Earth herself. Yes, Earth is a girl, and my girls were so excited about that. :-)
- It takes a whole day for the Earth to go around once, and a whole year to circle the sun.
- As for the moon, it needs 27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes and 12 seconds to go around the Earth.
Do you have a child who has shown interest in the planets or Earth? Or, do you just like picking up and sharing fun educational books with them, that will get them thinking and asking further questions on the topic? If so, then you will want to check out EARTH! My First 4.54 Billion Years today.
We have only had this book for a few short weeks, but have already read it a handful of times. My girls are like a walking encyclopedia now, sharing facts about Earth that most of us had no idea about. I, for one, had no idea that Earth has been around for 4.54 billions years. Curious to find out more about our planet? Then, you will have to pick up this book today to find out. :-)
