Are you a fan of the hit Disney animated movie Moana? If so, was it the music that drew you to the movie? While the story line was cute, I have to say that I really enjoyed the music. Yes, even The Rock made "You're Welcome" sound good, and had my girls and I singing along whenever we watched the movie or listened the original motion picture soundtrack.
Since buying the Moana soundtrack, the girls and I have listened to it a bazillion times -- well, maybe not that many times, but it was a lot. We can now sing each and every song on the soundtrack word for word, and memorized the entire track list. :-)
Because the girls and I loved the music from Moana so much, I was excited to hear about the October 6th release of Te Vaka: Greatest Hits, from Walt Disney Records. I was sent a review copy last month and couldn't wait to share it with the girls. At first, they had no idea what the CD was, but once I started playing the CD in the car, they smiled as the music style sounded just like the Moana soundtrack we have listened to.
"Te Vaka, a unique 11-piece group, has enchanted the world with its music, costume and dance of the South Pacific for more than two decades. Combining the timeless roots of Polynesian music with contemporary influences and dance, audiences are taken on a journey into the Pacific Islands, into the heart of Polynesia.
Opetaia Foa'i, the founder and lead singer of Te Vaka, is amulti award-winning songwriter, celebrated for his dedication to telling the stories of the South Pacific.
Foa'i was part of the diverse and dynamic team behind Disney's "Moana" inspired music, which also included Tony-, Emmy- and Grammy-winning songwriter/composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and three-time Grammy-winning composer Mark Mancina ("Speed," "Tarzan" and the Oscar-winning "Training Day"). In addition to co-writing several songs for the film and soundtrack, the score also featured contributions from Te Vaka's singers and log drummers."

Out of all the songs, my girls and really enjoyed the "Lakalaka" song which you can see the official music video for the song below..
“Lakalaka” - the single from “Te Vaka’s Greatest Hits - Songs that Inspired Moana” (released by Walt Disney Records 2017).
Isn't this a catchy song? You can't help but tap your feet and bob your head as you listen to this CD. We were recently sent grass hula skirts for a review coming soon, and as soon as the girls saw the skirts, they were quick to put them on and asked me to play this CD so that they can get their Hawaiian dancing on. :-) Even though we will not stop listening to the Moana CD, we now have another wonderful CD to listen to that the songs of Moana were inspired by.
So, if you love Moana for the music, then you will want to check out the new Te Vaka CD release, and get ready to get up and dance and sing. This is one CD that will get you moving. :-)
