When I am not watching cooking shows to get ideas for how to reinvent some of my family's favorite dishes or to find new recipes to try, I love going through my growing collection of cookbooks. And, usually around the holidays, book publishing groups come out with some great cookbooks, so I am always on the lookout for new cookbooks to add to my collection. I don't know about you, but when I get a new cookbook, I read it from cover to cover as if it was a novel. I also have sticky tabs on hand to flag recipes I want to try.
Recently, I was sent an email from the folks at Skyhorse Publishing Inc. that shared some amazing new cookbooks, that I couldn't wait to get my hands on a few of them. If you are a fan of one pot cooking, good 'ole home cooking, crock pot cooking, Sunday suppers, etc. then you will want to check out these recent releases, which would make a great gift for cookbook lovers...

Skyhorse Publishing is a relatively new publishing group, as they opened their doors back in 2006. But, that hasn't stopped them from quickly gaining traction and taking off. In 2011, Publishers Weekly called them the fastest-growing small publisher in America, and they continue to turn out amazing books in such categories as outdoor sports, team sports, country living, politics, true crime, military history, humor and cookbooks. This is the first time I worked with the folks at Skyhorse Publishing, but it will bot be my last, as I really like their assortment of books offered, and the quality of each title is great.
I have only had the three cookbooks mentioned above for a couple weeks, but I have been busy in the kitchen cooking up some great meals and side dishes -- all of which left no leftovers. Even my two picky eaters were raving about the holiday wild rice, pork roast with applesauce, firestarter chili and sloppy joes I made recently.
As far as baking, these three cookbooks from Skyhorse Publishing have you covered with a wonderful assortment of desserts that would look great on your upcoming Christmas dessert table. How does an all-American apple or pecan pie sound? Or, how about gingerbread pudding cake or my personal favorite homemade pretzels? These are just some the many recipes you will find in the cookbooks mentioned above.
With the holidays fast approaching, you will probably find yourself with limited time in the kitchen. But, that doesn't mean you should do take out all the time. Instead, pull out your slow cooker to create some great comfort food recipes your family will love. And, if crockpot cooking isn't your thing, many of these recipes are one pot cooking, which means you only use one pot to cook everything in, thus cutting down on dishes.
I have so many more recipes to try out, and can't wait to get back into the kitchen to try them out. This upcoming weekend I will be hosting a fun brunch at our house, where I will be trying out recipes I have flagged in these books including french toast and dried cranberry pudding my husband keeps asking me to make (and that I found and easy to prepare recipe for in the Fix-it and Forget-It Holiday Favorites cookbook).
I could go on and on about how great these cookbooks are, especially if you are looking to make holiday preparations and dinner easier, but why don't you check them out for yourself? You, too, will be impressed with these cookbooks and find yourself marking up pages to recipes you will want to try.
To learn more about these and other wonderful cookbooks available from Skyhorse Publishing head on over to their website at: http://www.skyhorsepublishing.com/. I really enjoyed going through these books and checking out the different recipes. And, the handful of recipes I made and served up at my Thanksgiving dinner were all a hit, and family and friends asked me to make them again soon. Just be warned, there are some amazing full-color images in these cookbooks, so be sure you aren't flipping through the cookbooks on an empty stomach. I am quickly flipping through them now without having had dinner yet, and my mouth is already watering and the belly is talking back to it. :-)
